Here is a fascinating concept, the ability to image planets orbiting other stars.
It sounds far fetched, but the
New Worlds Mission, funded by NASA plans to do just that.
Here is the link to the website of the mission, take time o go through it all it will be of interest, especially the 'simulated' observations in the
images in downloads section explains how the system will work, a genius idea of using a giant 'starshade' in space to block out sun from the target
star, allowing whatever telescope (possibly the James Webb Space Telescope' to detect and see the smaller, dimmer bodies in the solar system..
