Nope, I thought I'd let your little rant stand on its own while I spent time with my family.

Besides, you sidestepped the question. When other countries, like the U.K. use outside contractors for diplomatic escorts, are they considered mercenaries?

What is going to happen is a renew increased attacks against diplomat convoys with blackwater escort, this will benefit the Bush administration and his goal of keeping as many troops as posible in that nation.

What a whole bunch of BS, it looks to me that the results are wanted and pushed.

who would of thought killing 39 innocent civillians. would of got them banned.

I haven't read this whole thread, but my buddy is an MP, he says Blackwater has been unbanned. He says the US military has threatened the Iraqi gov that they would leave if Blackwater isn't allowed in, and the heads of the Iraqi mil. instantly buckled and gave in.

I haven't seen this substantiated, but thought I would share.

These DOGS OF WAR will always be needed in certain chaotic areas, such as Iraq is today. And Bush administration knows that very well, so of course they just shrugged and ignored the request of Iraqi prime minister. There were numerous incidents like this one and we all remember, what happened to those Blackwater "workers" which were shooting some civilians in Fallujah. And because they are NOT bound to ANY law, or have any political affiliation, they are a black hole in modern warfare and can be used anywhere for anything. Actually the magazine Der Spiegel called them WHORES OF WAR - which is actually more appopriate, since they always come to the guy that has more money and we all know that Pentagon has given over 100 billion dollars to private security companies to do their "work" in Iraq. Problem is, that these men are being payed much more then any Marine or U.S.Army soldier and they are not respected among them. Neither are they respected by Iraqi people, because we can see, how they are killing them without any remorse. But the question here is, what would YOU do, if some whorse of war were roaming YOUR city and killing YOUR children or YOUR wife or YOUR sister or brother...

Before replies are posted to this thread implying that Blackwater personnel or any others that you call mercenaries in Iraq have been involved in numerous incidents against indigenous civilians that far outnumber military personnel, you should be able to state the numbers. So I implore you to provide those numbers. Before you say you can't and before you say they aren't available your wrong they are available, you just need to get off your lazy bums and find them.

You all suffer from what I call Magnificent Seven Syndrome, it's OK to use hired gunslingers to do your dirty work and fight wars the way they are supposed to be fought, until you feel you need to target them to assuage yourselfs of any guilt or feelings of inferiority.

Wars are dirty nasty things that are fought by and won by the people who are the dirtiest and nastiest. There is no way to win a nice war because there is no such thing.

The problems with the numbers you request is that the complains made by the Maliki government and the population are not tag they are just rumors and complains until this problem happen that got plenty of media coverage.

I agree that a lot of the information and numbers from all of the sides in this matter are rumor and disinformation and that leads to a lot of the confusion. However there are hard numbers and facts that are available. Accepting that all information should be taken with a grain of salt. My post was motivated by an early post which stated acting with impunity these mercenaries have committed numerous actions that outnumber u.s. military personnel.

And before some sage analytical persons reads my post and posits the question. Yes, I am one of these "mercenaries", freelance type not employed by Blackwater though.

Actually makeitso, I did not. I believed I fully answered your comment above.

In this country, there are three types of close protection services.

1. The premiere service is the RPG or Royal Protection Group. This is currently staffed by members of the Police (SO 19) and serving members of the armed forces - and as such, are covered by the Geneva Convention, when operating outside the UK.

2. The second CP service is the DPG or Diplomatic Protection Group. Usually this is wholly staffed by a department within the Met. Again, because they are serving members of the Police, they are covered by the Geneva Convention, outside the UK.

3. Lastly with have the Military Close Protection Group. These are serving members of the armed forces. Their task is to protect high ranking officers when on overseas duties.

Again, because they are serving members ofg the armed forces, they are covered by the Geneva Convention when operating outside the UK.

Makeitso, it is because they are serving policemen/women and serving members of the armed forces that they are covered by the Geneva Convention.

If they were members of a private security company hired to protect Gordon Brown on a swift visit to say Afghanistan, then they would not be protected by the GC.

Does that clear the muddy waters for you? I do understand your confusion but my friend, all yoiu have to do, is do a little digging around yourself.

Thanks for the video. This guy also has a book on the subject and was recently interviewed on CNN. The last bit surprised me a bit knowing his negative view on the Iraqi war and the use of mercenary armies in particular.

It seems that, as most of us predicted, Blackwater will continue its operations in Iraq. Enough for Iraqi souverignty...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Private military contractor Blackwater USA "delayed and impeded" a congressional probe into the 2004 killings of four of its employees in Falluja, Iraq, the House Oversight Committee said Thursday in a report.

"According to these documents, Blackwater took on the Falluja mission before its contract officially began, and after being warned by its predecessor that it was too dangerous. It sent its team on the mission without properly armored vehicles and machine guns. And it cut the standard mission team by two members, thus depriving them of rear gunners," the report states.

So it seems that despite the good salaries, BW did not care too much for the safety of its employees.

I think there are a great many problems in American society and also a great many wrongs being done throughout the world in the People's name.

However, I am also of the opinion that the Great American People are not told the whole truth.

If they were, like the Viet Nam War and the atrocities conducted their (on both sides) then I feel sure that most Americans would speak out against these war mongering swine and what they stand for! How a government can condone this sort of behaviour is beyond me.

I have two friends who own international security companies. They are both ex regulars and one has an SF background. They only recruit from Brit SF and those Paras or Marines who have seen recent active service.

Should their operatives behave like this Blackwater scum, they would be handed over to the Irai police for due process.

Sadly, Blackwater (and those like them) illustrates what is wrong within a certain section of American society.

Banning Blackwater was just the first step in eliminating a small portion of terror in the region. These mercenaries resemble ruthless thugs that could care less about slaying the innocent just so they can bathe in blood money. Whose money? Our money.

One or two mistakes are acceptable, but when it becomes a repetitive act as well as the Possibility of these acts being intentional is unacceptable.

Maybe the CIA should start abducting thugs off the streets, teach them about heavy weapons, give them the objectives, send them off, and reward them with a large bounty of cash when the job is done. There are only two ways they can be done. Sloppy, or Sh***y.
