Kerry Sieh of the California Institute of Technology has spent decades studying the fault line that runs along Indonesia's western coast. He is among several experts predicting a repeat of the powerful earthquake that triggered the 2004 Asian tsunami, which killed more than 230,000 people in a dozen Indian Ocean nations.
"No one can say whether it will be in 30 seconds or 30 years," he said. "But what happened the other day, I think is quite possibly a sequence of smaller earthquakes leading up to the bigger one." (..)
"There is a strong indication this foreshadows the big one," said Danny Hillman, an earthquake specialist at the Indonesian Institute of Science. "We all agree there is an 8.5 or stronger earthquake waiting to happen."

Seismic activity has increased since the glaciers are melting faster...
Scientists say melting glaciers could induce tectonic activity.
As ice melts and waters runs off, tremendous amounts of weight are lifted off of Earth's crust. As the newly freed crust settles back to its original, pre-glacier shape, it can cause seismic plates to slip and stimulate volcanic activity according to research into prehistoric earthquakes and volcanic activity.

I'd also be interested in anything else you find out about this and whether or not you think this is a natural cycle of the earth.
As the newly freed crust settles back to its original, pre-glacier shape,
Do you think the earth could heat up to previous uninhabitable temps? With great increses in seismic activity.
Do you think part of globabl warming is caused by increased heat from the center of the earth somehow.
I agree with the idea of balance.
Hmmm, Energy in = Energy out unless your messing around with something nuclear?
Isn't balance part of an energy equation....note again my un-scientific-ness
The Greenland ice cap is melting so quickly that it is triggering earthquakes as pieces of ice several cubic kilometres in size break off.
