Putin may seek 2012 re-election

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he expects to remain an influential figure in Russian politics after he steps down next March.

Speaking to Western journalists and academics, he did not rule out standing for president again in 2012 or 2016.

He also suggested the race to succeed him was wide open, with at least six credible candidates including Russia\'s new PM, Viktor Zubkov

I think he is going to influence Russian politics even after leaving office. He might come back again in 2012 or may be before if something goes wrong in parliament and President has to resign.

Whatever i collected from internet about russian constitution, One cannot stay president for more than 2 terms, however person can return back for president\'s position after some time ( I guess afte 1 term, 4 years)
