Scientists Invent Gum That Won't Stick to Your Shoe

news.yahoo.com

Stepping in gum on the sidewalk won't be such a sticky situation anymore—scientists have invented nonstick gum.
Clean Gum, as it is called, supposedly can be easily removed from shoes and pavement (as well as from hair, skin, and clothes). So walk down the street without fear of ruining your favorite shoes.

This is great! They say that the gum will disappear from the street within 24 hours. I hate stepping in gum, it's about time they came up with something like this.

I hate the way it sticks to my fillings. I wonder if they've fixed that problem, too?

Probobly, they say a polymer was added to make it less adhesive to most surfaces.

I'm always leery of things like polymers being added to stuff I'm going to be chewing on, and swallowing. After finding out that there are chemicals in our food-grade plastics that cause health problems, I think I'll just avoid gum altogether. It's not like I'm addicted to chewing it; it's been several years since I have.

Heheh cool! I wonder if this gum will be banned in Singapore as well, no reason for it to be.

MM -- Isn't cornstarch a type of polymer?

Is it? When I hear polymer, I think plastic and synthetic. Maybe it's because I work in polymer clay sometimes I have that prejudice. I'll have to look into the corn starch thing.
