Iran warns of 'problems' if US attacks

I have two Iranians friends that are just 3 years older than me(26). They loved that we toppled saddam for what he did in the 80's to them, but would love it even more if we bombed the # outta there country. :shrug:

It is really quite interesting that many Americans think they can destroy Iran whilst the World looks on. I think the Russians will have something to say about it and they are not as some assume some 3rd rate power, America would not want aconfrotation with the Russians or the Chinese and I am sure that idf America was stupid enough to attack Iran then it will be itself attacked by the Russians.

I personally think that the US is being set up for a fall and Iran is the bait, Russia could easily steralize all US forces in the ME quite easily and if the Russians did what is America going to do about it, risk a World war in which case it would loose or beat a hasty retreat back to its own borders.

I really dont think most Americans understand just how vunerabl their forces are. As yet American forces have never had to face a real adversary and when they do there are going to be tears and the realisation that American forces arent invincible as many seem to think they are.

First, if we hit them with a Blitzkrieg like we have war plans for, they likely won't get a chance to fire because we'll hit every military installation, nuclear facility, and their refinery at once.

Second, you forget we have the Patriot system which has been improved with the Israeli's help and also a Laser protection system aboard AWACS. One or two missles may make it through, but they would be devestated.

I liken Iran to where Germany was in '38. We either take care of it now, or go to a full fledged war in a few years. They have pledged to "eradicate" the US and Israel from the planet and are building weapons to that end. Why must we wait to be attacked? The WTC was attacked by Bin-Laden's cronies in '93 and we did nothing. The USS Cole, Khobar towers, Yemen, Somalia. What does it take to open our eyes?

Russia will denounce it in the UN, but deep down, they want the same thing. They don't protest them now because they have financial ties. If we annialate most of their military installations, the Russians will get rebuilding contracts.

Everyone needs to stop thinking one-dimensionally about all this. The Iranians invented Chess (and the Russians play it well as well). They are not playing act/react. They are playing an end-game. The sooner we realize this and start strategizing AHEAD, the sooner we can be prepared.

Why must everyone try to make things so simple? We support Israel because they are the ONLY democracy in the area and because they provide a since of stability (believe it or not). If it weren't for Israel, the entire region would be a powerder-keg and Oil would be $200 a barrel.

BTW, with oil doubled in the last few years, the Arab countries (and Russia) get DOUBLE their oil income for no extra effort. Where do you suppose that money is going?

People are starting to look at this from only one side, how about his look at this from the middle part of things.
Iran-Sure they do not have the military power US does, but it does have allies.
The allies will not just stand there while US devastates Iran. Who are these allies? Syria, Russia, China, Venezuela,North Korea, Cuba, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and either Pakistan or India. Iran might want the nuclear facilities for energy, so why destroy them?
US-A very close ally with Israel, and they will do whatever they can to help them. Iran's leader said he wants to wipe out Zionism off the face of the Earth, in order to do that he must strike Israel. US is allies with Australia, Israel, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, and NATO.

If a world war does break out, there will be no telling which countries will be involved. If all the countries do fight in it, then it will be a devastating time for all of mankind.

This in theory sounds nice, but they will not dare attack us, I mean there are soo many reasons why not, I would say what comes to mind begins with a B and ends with a 2bomber.

then we can add f-22's B-52'(armed with cruise missiles) I mean these 3 things off the top to me trump anything the soviets can bring, I haven't even mention the Navy or or Army though and also not to mention the three are all completely nuclear capable, the Soviets are not stupid, while the press is propagating the illusion the U.S. is weak, we have actually become much more powerful in the expenditures on much more technologically advanced, efficient weapons like the global hawk and possibly some ultra secret crafts the lay in wait for the right moment.

get a few things right 1 irans not a threat 2 china will easily wipe america out there army will just role over your army with numbers 3 america wont stand a chance and 4 its a mistake if iran is attacked and i mean a big one like we never so the consequences of the iraq invasion and look at it now chances are in iran we will see even bigger mess and trouble so good luck!

It's amusing reading all your posts about how great the Irans or US forces are and how the Russians or Chinese will act. I sure most of you know that this has been hashed out thousands of times at the US 's war colleges. We know where everything is in Iran so Stealth and cruise missiles will take out the AA, airforce and missiles. The bomb haulers will take out the military and infastructure and the big bombers and special ops will take out the nuclear assets. They have got all bases covered including notification of the Russians and Chinese ahead of time.

But this will not be the case. The US is too tied up in Iraq and doesn't want to deal with an Iran jihad in the US and oil flow complications. That would through the world in a recession for sure. The game that is being played is the propaganda game and the US is winning. Iran is noticably shaken waiting for the bombers to hit while they are internally a complete mess. Pollution, unemployment, inflation and radical security is rampant and it's a matter of time before the next Iranian revolution begins.

I guess we'll all find out what happens when it happens, Huh?

I read this whole thread, (I'm not sure why) But two things are apparent to me, we CAN bomb them back tot he stone age if we want, and Keep UAV's around for months years, and KEEP bombing them ( what did we do in the balkins again? ) Iran has Oil, why the "need" for nuclear power? that has not been explained to me as of yet.

If I may, let me make an analogy.....

lets say you, the dear reader, lives in a nice quiet apartment complex, and the place next to yours gets rented out to a young, brash loud person, but you don't know that yet, on the day they move in you happen to be home, so you offer to help unload their things and move them in. as you are doing so you discover a few things, 1. they have 10 5 foot tall speakers, 2. they have a 100 CD changer 3. they listen to Korn, Metallica, Ozzy Osborn..( and what ever other heavy metal bands you can think of) 4. they work second shift, and get home a midnight 5 they have an entertainment center that takes up an entire wall and 6. they have one TV and it's a 13 inch B&W with no cable connector on the back. when you inquire about the speakers the person replies "don't worry, I use headphones" you never saw headphones, but they tell you they use them..

would this cause you to be concerned? would you want to prevent a situation BEFORE it happens? you can't call the cops cause they have not done anything wrong....what DO you do? Move, give up your space because of someone less considerate?

this is only circumstantial evidence that there may be a problem at a future date, you don't "know" it will happen but...................


This is what is going on in Iran right now, we don't "know" they will make nukes, we can only Judge with incomplete and circumstantial evidence.

I guess waiting until after the bright flash would be best in this case??????

I think that says it all. Is it better than "bad intel on WMD's?" Maybe, maybe not but it's different.

That being said, I've seen members here diss policemen for acting in the manner of "you don't know but........". So why is it acceptable for nations to do this but not individuals?
