Back in the 70's, a serious look was done with this one particular case and some interesting stuff came out.

But first, a little trip down memory lane. There were a couple of sci-fi shows that were very popular back in the late 50's and the very early 60's. The first and foremost was the Twilight Zone. Then there was the Outer Limits. The Outer Limits was not touchy feel good, like the newer one is. It was downright scary on some episodes.

Basically, Barney and Betty had something happen. Whether it was an alien abduction or not is the very basic question. It just happens to parallel a TV episode of a show that had fairly high ratings. The time frame is highly coincidental and the details of the Hill's encounter are right out of the show.

That argument don't hold water. Aliens with big eyes, wrap around eyes were already on the screen in several movies such as Invasion of the Saucer Men, Invaders from Mars, all with scenes of needles and examinations.

Outer Limits was way late on the block for that concept.

Now one could argue that the Hollywood versions led to the tv versions led to the Hill's experience but then again I'm sure Barney saw thousands of westerns and wasn't running around shooting off his gun to make varmints dance.

While I don't remember all about this case, it seams to me that she was show a star map by the visitors, it was I think the Zeta Retulici sp stars system that was even discovered untill some years later. I don't recall the "gift" she was given the the visitors, I would be interested in learning about that.

This is one of the 1st cases of abductions I read about. The story was very credible to me. They were just plain folk.

Thanks, and I understand. I was a bit rushed and just chose two sites on page one of google=interrupted journey.

Didn't really intend them as source material. In fact there's a monster page on the Hills online, by CAUSE, I think.


Remember, I wasn't trying to debunk, nor take sides at this point.

In fact the 'skeptic' page wasn't that great, either. I think I still have the 'Skeptical Inquirer' from back in the Fall of 1985, when they did almost a whole issue on that. I was more of a UFO/ET fan then and bought SI even though it was the opposing view, because it was one of the only mags out there on the paranormal, skeptical or not.

I'd do a longer workup on the Hill case, but the more you look at it the more equivocal it becomes in the telling.

It's not always clear who did what when. There's some suspicion that Dr Simon omitted some things.

The Hill case survives on four major things (off the top of my head):

1. Amniocentesis had not been invented yet (or that hospitals had not started routine use of it as a fetal diagnostic tool).
2. Radar was involved
3. Star map was not random and contains some info that would not be known, either by Ms Hill or by anyone.
4. 'Abduction' of people, i.e. a CE:4 had only been widely reported one other time, and that was outside the US. (Antonio Villas Boas, '57). Thus, many people cite the Hill case as the first recorded abduction (1961).

Add to that some trace evidence (shiny spots on the car, radiation above background on the car, Barney's shoe tops).

Would you agree those are the main things?

If your referring to the marks (three appx 2"? circles in a triangular pattern on their vehicle trunk lid) I believe noticed the following day?, that was a curious point for me at the time of reading IJ.

For me ( 5 years since reading the book IJ), it was the first and last to-date, AA case reporting hearing Pings (three?) and suddenly two hours later hearing Pings and finding themselves driving along a couple of miles down the road, but two hours later MT.
Reported AA -- Missing Time cases are not unusual, but the pings and physical traces on the car as reported by Bet H which eventually faded or disappeared seemed and seems an oddity in comparison to other cases of AA while driving in a vehicle. I think at one time Bet H said they both heard something tap or land on their car.

There's just oodles of stuff in that book that are I found interesting, eg the rarely given description of the interior of the craft.
(off point: I recall reading one tour of an EBE Craft case where the guy insists the craft was much bigger inside than outside including upper chambers appx 16' high where the craft from the outside seemed to be a max of seven ft in height).

As for the star map I think it was verified only within the last five years as to being strikingly similar to the Zeta 1 and Zeta 2 Reticuli system.

We as a whole, in our humbleness, are never done with Betty and Barney Hill even if they are dead. Simply put, we can not get there to check out her star map and until we can, that will be why no one can ever be done with Betty and Barney Hill. It will be discussed, over and over and over again, saying that some feel a connection to the event even if it is the imagination, while others continue to say, like I do, until we get there, it will never be over, until it is checked out in person, it will never be done.

Never ever be done.
