At least three people have been killed in a large explosion in the city of Nazran, capital of the southern Russian republic of Ingushetia, reports say.

The blast took place as a security forces vehicle passed a government building, Interfax news agency says.

Earlier, gunmen killed three members of an ethnic Russian family.

Are these attacks just from a local militia, or are there more serious organisations behind them? (maybe even Georgia).

Vladimir Putin is definitely worried about the state of this republic - policing the streets with an extra 2,500 troops..

Georgia has nothing to do with this. It is Islamic insurgents who lost in Chechnya, and are now trying to flame-up a new religion-based conflict in Ingushetia and Dagestan.
