I wondering if anyone has any info on a UFO sighting that occurred on the night of 12/02/05? I also witnessed I sighting a week prior. When i first witnessed the sighting I thought it may be a meteor. The very next week my wife and i went to Boston to see Ray Lamontagne at Berklee. On the way home while heading West we both witnessed the same red glowing orb w/ tail/ meteor looking object. It was very fast moving and unlike any meteor or falling star, this object was moving horizontally across the sky. It was quite close too...just a few miles ahead of us travelling South.

I never paid too much attention to the whole UFO thing even after witnessing this. It wasn't until i was researching Google videos for "The Secret" videos that came across Bill Cooper. He started talking about cow mutilations and all of a sudden i the hairs on the back of my neck just stood up. I remembered watching some show on Discovery Channel i think it was. I believe the name of the show was when "the hunters hunted". I wish i remember the name of the show, but what floored me was that they were investigating a Grizzly attack where the bear was beheaded, paw cut clean off, and sexual organs removed. They thought it could be another bear but the head and body parts were laid out in a intelligent manner that they thought it could be a hunter...but what true hunter leaves his prize head behind? Anyway this is how i got hooked into this whole thing. So if anyone has any activity from around that the beginning of Dec 05 and also about a week earlier i would appreciate it.

FYI...Here's the show i attended the night my wife and i saw the UFO.

Why do you think that it could not be a meteor? Did it make any sudden turns, deviate from its course, or pass in front of any ground-based objects?

Meteors are quite capable of traveling apparently horizontal to the ground. They can even shoot straight up "from" the horizon.

Meteors can also appear to be red in color... or blue, or green, or golden etc...

Also, it's a common thing for inexperienced observers to misjudge how far away a meteor actually is. It's not uncommon to hear someone say "It landed just over the hill" or something similar. See this page which explains the effect: www.meteorobs.org...

I'm not saying it was not some advanced alien craft you saw, just that until you rule out the more mundane possibilities, and are left with only that as the one possible explanation for what you saw, the chances are it was a meteor, and a very nice one by the sound of it!

Spend a few nights out during meteor shower peaks and you will see plenty more, and perhaps even become addicted to observing them, like myself and many others

It's also a sure way to witness *actual* ET objects entering our atmosphere... even if most don't survive the more than first second or two and go on to make "first contact"

Well for starters i saw the same object twice over the same stretch of highway west bound just past the rt 9 exit on the mass pike, a week or so apart . It was traveling the same direction, seemed to be the same speed and height. The tail wasn't much of a tail. Nothing like the your typical meteor or flaming anything. It was more like tear drop looking.

I'm also going to try to find that discovery show.

Well, it is a little unusual that you saw what appeared to be the same object twice, a week apart, but it still could have been a meteor...

Firstly, meteors do not necessarily have to have tails. Some have no tail what so ever, and just look like a star or point of light moving across the sky. Others have a very short wake, just as you describe, giving them a teardrop shape.

Secondly, meteors belonging to the same shower will all head away from a single point/area of the sky. Eg. Leonids radiate away from Leo. This area of the sky remains relatively constant for the average shower over the course of a week. They also often share many similarities in appearance and speed.

What I'm driving at, is that if your two sightings were about the same time (I'm assuming they were) at night, then two very similar meteors, belonging to the same shower could easily appear to take the same course, even a week apart.

It is not very likely, but it is not altogether impossible either. IMHO it is still a more likely explanation than seeing a UFO, although I do not want to dismiss any possibility at this stage.

I've had a look for candidate showers, but the start of December has allot of showers active, and there are no obvious showers that I can see at this point.

It would be good if you could provide a few more details of the sightings that might help to narrow it down - What were the times you saw the objects at? How long were they visible for? How high above the horizon in degrees were they? If you took North as 0 degrees, and South as 180 degrees, at what degree value were the start and end points?

Thanks.
