That's the problem instead of dealing with the problems all people want to do is drink or turn on the television.

Personally, I plan to vote even if the machines are rigged. That's all I can really do right now...

and, Flinx, I think it's similiar with the pres election. If Clark were to win NH, delegates would vote for Clark at the DNC convention. And, each state gets so many votes/delegates based on population. sort of like the electoral college, I suppose. Though, McCain gave his votes to Bush so Bush would win outright. That's probably common - and we'll probably see in with the Dems this season.

In the last election I was a huge McCain supporter, and I mean huge. I followed the primaries and was saddened when it was mathmatically impossible for McCain to lose.

McCain and his black daughter. That one really pissed me off. Thank Karl Rove for that. McCain would have been a decent president, far better then Bush.

McCain has a black daughter?

We can all drink and watch T.V., but we have to use the only day, in 4 years that we actually have democratic power, voting day, to set our next 4 years. The only time we have democracy is during an election, after that the elected officials can do as they wish.

Not true. It's the 2 year elections that really shape this country. Congress has amazing power, it decides what laws will be and passes them. Plus, most people don't vote in the off 2 years when there's not a presidential election. Those are the times that the people who actually care what's going on on Capital Hill vote, and the masses of sheep stay at home...drinking

junglejake: I was just thinking the same thing. Look at the 02 election which gave the GOP control of the senate.

People don't think those elections are imporant and Democrats in general don't 'get out the vote' while republicans vote, and vote often. - so, that ignorance basically gave more power to the GOP in 02. (and, I'm pretty much a flag waving, gun toting, yahoo-Republican but, I hate one party, either or, having that much power)
