why not just attract aliens using LOA?

I saw this movie called the Secret a while ago, which basically explains something called the law of attraction (our thoughts and intentions manifest into reality). It has even been featured on shows such as Oprah. Many online claim that LOA is very real. Anywho, why shouldn't we be able to attract an alien encounter, etc. if LOA is real. Has anyone ever used LOA to attract E.T.'s (the good ones) into their lives?
