The North Korea Threat Is Bigger Than Iraq

The equation is simple. If you have nukes, we won't attack you. If you don't, or especially if you�re trying to acquire them, we will. That's what the pre-emptive really means. Pre-nuclear.

Now, we're supposedly trying to dissuade nations from seeking nuclear technology whilst giving out the very clear message that if you do have nuclear technology, we won't touch you.

Hmmm... Wonder why they're all rapidly trying to get nukes...

Kegs what are we supposed to do ? knowing that the South would be imolated along with the North - that hardly makes sense.

What may have been possible was thrown away in 1993, not 2003.

North Korea is a US policy threat, and as with every situation not being the same....
The US will continue to talk with N. Korea.
Time is on the US side.
How?
N. Korea, in its persuit of WMD/Nukes, is destroying its economy.
Again, in such, the US will wait till the N. Korean economy is to the point of virtual collapse...which is also virtually assurded and better left on its own.
Food, fuel, supplies, textiles, etc..... their collapse will make the old USSR collapse look like a walk in the garden in comparison.

I'm not saying anything about how it should be or what we should do. Only the way it is.

North Korea is a threat, and should be dealt with. You'll get no argument from me there. Unfortunately what I said before is accurate. We want to stop other states from reaching that state but, in the way we do, we encourage them to reach that state.

It�s an exacerbated catch 22 if there ever was one.

Their economy has been on the verge of collapse for years, if it cannot be considered to be there now. Why do you think they are putting so much into the pursuit of nukes? Because they know that if they have them they will not be touched.
And they are being proven right.

Kegs, IMHO, any nation who institutes and implements an average to above average foreign policies, for which many do, will always run into the well quoted scenerio(s) of "Catch-22".
Almost reminds me of the simple laws of the universe: 'cause and effect.'

the united states more of a threat than north korea? are we talking world peace? or are we going by military power?

anyway...

say north korea was a criminal who didnt buck his ideas up when he was shouted at.... the only other way is by using physical force.

its a sad way of lookin at how to eventualy end up with world peace... but its true, and it has been for years.
