new mexican FX-05 Xiuhcoatl vs the new xm8

this new mexican rifle looks awesome. who knows if it's better than the G36, if you read the spin in the wikipedia article for the FX-05 it sounds like the best gun ever. the 2400 rpm multi-shot capability reminds me of the canceled russian AN-94. i don't know why it wouldn't be built just as well as a G36, sure some of us americans have an image of mexican workmanship not being as good as say german workmanship, but building small arms isn't exactly rocket science. not that hard to injection mold, drill a bore straight, use a mandrel, do some investment castings, forge steel, etc, etc. frankly, i'm surprised this gun isn't getting more attention. this polygonal rifling instead of groove rifling sounds interesting. if anything, this gun is too advanced and only time will tell how reliable the pulley system and polygonal rifling is.

there are hundreds of M16 type guns out there, i think my pesonal fav is the Barrett M468, it uses a 6.8mm round so more stopping power than the 5.56 and less kick and waight than the 7.62, and yes this is almost a copy of the G36. I still like the bullpop design types more than the conventional system more as they tend to be lighter and more compact without the loss of performance. the LA85 the FAMAS and the newer FN2000, all good guns and look nice aswell.

All of you guys are talking of a weapon you haven't used. Google around and you will see why HK did not sue, it is diferent and more advanced.
True enough mexicans arent known for gunsmithing but that doesnt mean they cant start now.
I believe the extremely fast 2100 RPM rate of fire is something very impressive that not only the XM8 does not have, but many "current" rifles don't either.
The retarder recoil making it extremelly accurate beats HK's guns and certainly also the M-16s.
With that said I'd rather take one these into battle, and it definitelly beat the XM8 for the latter was never produced!

For those who don't know much about the FX-05 here come some specs:

-it can fire 5.56 NATO and 6.8mm rounds at a cyclic rate of 750rpm

-the barrel doesn't have the traditional stripes inside, it have some kind of hexagonal shape, wich increase accuracy and reliability.

-it have an unique system that delay the recoil when firing in three-round burst mode, this means that you get one recoil for the three shots, just after the third round is out the barrel, instead of three consecutive recoils.

- the desing are completly different than the G36, internaly, they have they're own mechanism.

-and finnaly, the name "Xicoatl"(wich is the meaning of the "X" in FX-05) means "Snake of Fire" in Nahuatl language, and acording to the legends is theweapon of choice of the sun god Tlaloc.
