Tax Rise

I was thinking that if drinking age rose, money will fall so a tax must go up to make up for loss of earnings for the Goverment.

What tax would rise ?

Maybe this fat tax ?
Maybe the pay as you go raod tax ?
Maybe even a Carbon foot print tax ?

Im sure theres loads that can be invented ro rose. Any ideas ?

So why would the take from drink fall?

Why would taxes have to raise?

If we withdrew from these foreign military campaigns that would save billions

And closing all the tax loopholes. Have much would they net?

And fighting benefit fraud.

okie...its going to be eyars until benifit fraud goes, comign out of wars ? yer thats going to happen and the goverment will loose alot of money from tax if the age of drinking goes up, there loosing 3 years of drinkings there, millions upon millions gone, got to make up for it some how.

Funnily enough there seems to be a political consensus developing that there ought to be a large hike in the taxes applied to alcohol.

It's nothing to do with 'left' or 'right' but a feeling that anti-social idiot youths ought not to be encouraged with the current state of affairs where 'we' are awash with cheapo booze.

I very much doubt the drinking age will rise - the brewing and distillery industry is probably going to successfully lobby against it - but I do expect drink (particularly the kiddie-flavoured so-called 'alco-pops') to become expensive.

While it saddens me Vixion, I have to agree with your assessment. It's an interesting question that taxes should go up rather than improve the existing tax take, if there is going to be tax hit.

Tax people if they have more than one child. If you want more children, get tax breaks to adopt. This should reduce a family's carbon footprint and offer a child who may not get a decent life, a decent life. And my taxing, I mean a serious tax hike so several thousand pounds for more than one child.

And just how much would the tax hit from drink be reduced if the the age at which one can drink was raised. And I noticed that sminkeypinkey has replied and seems to have hands of a lot of information.
