well, new to me

probably sad to say but it is the nicest car i have ever had.
2003, sedan, 4 door.
51k miles. i would say near mint.
am/fm cassette. power windoes, locks, mirrors..
air bags of course...
keyless entry..

i really like it.

has some pep too it. i have a 97 taurus now and the taurus seems more peppy but the impala is more reliable.
very easy to work on.

i really like it.

anyone own an impala?

Never owned one.
OK My DAD owned a 1970 impala, that probably doesn't count.

But, whenever we rent a car, we always ask for either an Impala, or
a Hyundai Sonata. But, are surprisingly peppy, and have great handling for a Sedan type car.

Congrats on the new family member..!

I have never driven an Impala, but I used to drive Malibus on a regular basis. They seemed like good cars. The one thing I hated about them was the radio/CD players. They had about 2000 tiny buttons and knobs that made them nearly impossible to adjust while driving unless you drove the thing every day, which I didn't.

I'm a Honda man, but that's a nice looking ride.

What kind of power plant does it have?

Niiiiice.

All I have is a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am which I would heartily recommend NOBODY sane should buy.

If my ex ever paid up his child support arrearages I could get the brand new Kia of my dreams. But I am not holding my breath. :shk:

you're a tech right?
i am/was before i got hurt..

i wouldn't call ANY kia my dream car but my wife and i have had that rio since 03..we bought it new.
a couple year in it needed a control arm bushing. took it in and they put a new lower control arm on it, gave us a rental and paid for our food while it was getting done.
we have had NO problems with that car man and i would recomend them to anyone...

i would buy a kia again in an instant.

yeah, 3.4 litre is plenty for me....
i like to get out there but i don't need a 6.6 litre with double pumpers you know

I'm not a tech, but I do read a lot of car reviews and specs, just to keep up with things.

I know that Hyundai and Kia have great warranties and maybe the cars are reliable now, but for the time being, from what I have read they get poor gas mileage compared to the size of their engines and that this is true because they use heavy materials and old technology to build their cars.

I think the Koreans will make competitive cars in five year or so, but for the time being they are dinosaurs in tuxedos.

So, if you're happy with a V6 engine that puts out less horsepower than my I4 iVTEC and gets way less gas mileage, then go ahead.

It's your money.

I know the Rio probably doesn't come with a six, but I'm speaking in generalities.

i thought you were is all...nevermind.

for us, it was all about price/warranty.
it definately does NOT have power but my wife drives it like 8 miles a day back and forth to work. it's great in the snow...
couldn't really beat it....it is definately lame in the power dept.

i had a sephia for a bit...that was cool too

I'm not sure what you mean, but I used to work for the state and over five years had access to a multitude of state cars and drove them as often as possible for official business.

Very nice looking car Boondock78. 3.4lt is very cool. I am thinking of getting the Lumina SS. Any reviews on that? I am in South Africa and it is always good to hear from the folks that live in the country where the car is made.

I like Chev though currently drive a Subaru Impreza or is it a Subaru Guzla? hmm...
