There are several theories doing the rounds, that missiles can be re-programmed in flight.
Whilst I suppose that it could be true immediately after launch, the warheads themselves are independently targetted and 'steered' towards said
target by means of tiny thrust vectoring jets, linked to a GPS navaid.
I seriously doubt that any MIRV warhead could execute a 180 degree turn during re-entry when in terminal velocity.
Of course I could be wrong and there should be people on this site who know better than me.
