Hey every one, i was just thinking about Nemesis. Im not sure were, or even if im just making this up, but i think i heard that the sun is running out of fuel, i mean by in alot alot alot alot of years to come it would of run out, not next week. Apparently Nemesis is going to destroy us, it swings by the Oort belt, rips of hundreds/thousands of astroids, and then the sun uses it gravitaional pull to pull them in and BAM more fuel, make sence ? But whilst this goes on some of the astroids hit us and the moon, mars, basicly what evr is in the way, isnt for long.

Make sence ? or is it just poop ?

Sounds like that movie "sunshine". Is nemesis a planet, or asteroid? When is this suppose to take place?

What is Nemesis? Never heard of it before. Unless you're referring to the Star Trek movie.

firstly i shall say sorry for my breif first post, i should of said more.

Nemesis is belived to be the suns companion star, it has an orbit that take 26-30 million years, Now we knwo that our surface beklow the oceans is just as bad if not worse that the surface of the moon. This tells us that we were hit by astroids a long time ago. Take into account that every 26 -30 million years we arnt ment to have a mass excitntion, and Nemesis take 26 -30 million years to pass, its orbit goes straight through the Oort belt (belt of astroids) and it goes back to the sun and does it all again, so if any planets get in the way (like us) they will get destoryed (kinda, more as astroids hitting them).

Ill look for more info.

thanks for letting me know, I always thought the nemesis was planet X Niburu, which has a 3600 year elliptical orbit as compared to Nemesis 26 million year. I'm guessing it's a brown dwarf star?

This theory's been going around for quite a while. There have been various instances of orbits and objects being affected by something out there.

I think if it were a full-blown star we would've detected it by now... so I'm leaning more towards the possibility of it being a brown/red dwarf or gas giant.

Is our Sun alone, or simply the major partner in a binary system? Astronomers are finding evidence that suggests the presence of an unseen companion to our Sun. Discoveries in the outer solar system are so anomalous that the only viable explanation is that their orbits are being affected by an object more massive than Jupiter; the 'Dark Star'. As implausible as this may seem, the idea of an undiscovered massive planet orbiting the Sun has many advocates within the astronomical community itself. Many astronomers are contemplating the possibility that dark, distant companions commonly orbit around their parent stars.

Taken from Andy Lloyd's website. Plenty of interesting stuff to read there about the possibility of this "Nemesis" being a brown dwarf.

This is interesting. It could also be one of many plausible explanations for the Pioneer anomalies. There is a thread going on right now discusssing it. I think I will edit my post to reflect this theory.

That looks like quite a reasonable explanation for the mass extinction of our planet if it's true. I'll try and research about Nemesis over the next few days, see what I can dig up - it seems interesting!

I am trying hard to catch up to the topic theme here. I have never heard of this before. I did find a site that may have credible source.

Ive just read and it seems to be the same as the rest of the others, very good. I think ill stop look in astrology and start lookign at mythology, see if theres any refences to it through old civilizations.

The Sun, like all stars are finite, in about 5billion years it will have exhausted
its Hydrogen fuel, after that it will go through a process in which it will start burning
Helium and become a Red giant (engulfing the inner two planets, and roasting
the Earth), eventually it will run out of that and become a White Dwarf, a small
(roughly the size of Earth), super hot White Dwarf.

The Sun cannot regain fuel by having asteroids or anything else for that matter
smashed into it.

Incidentally though, if a similar star were to be traveling slow enough and 'merge'
with the sun (an event that would most likely destroy half the Solar System)
it would become a new star that would have the same amount of 'fuel' as the two
stars that it would be made of.
