Need some help on an older BBC comedy

I'm trying to recall the name of a BBC comedy I loved to watch in the 70's. Not sure how long it ran. I was only able to see taped episodes in the US on PBS as repeats, this was well before the world was wired and nobody had a satellite dish.

Anyway, the show was about daydreaming man married to a nagging wife. She'd begin to nag and he would go into a daydream, that we, as viewers could see. The funniest thing I remember was whenever his mother-in-law started in he would picture a hippo wallowing in the mud, snorting bellowing.


So if any of the more seasoned UK posters recall this show and can help me out on the name, I'd appreciate it.
