its not really that bad of an idea. roaches can survive in almost any environment, and it is widely believed that they could survive nuclear fallout. they provide an excellent source of protein, and could be abundantly raised if they can infact survive the fallout.

I would have to agree with you there

Besides, even if you did farm them, they would contain some form of radiation from being exposed to it so you would die from that I would think

There's a certain type of mushroom that absorbs radiation, can't think of the name of it right now. Liberal planting of that would be a good idea.
I think the Russians and Ukrainians are planting it around the areas affected by Chernobyl.

Why even think about this? If a nuke dropped right now, you wouldn't have time to get to your fallout shelter unless you live in one, in which case you are a nerd. Just let fate decide whether you live or die.

It may seem a little silly but if you live in Finland as he does, or any remote part of a country not likely to be directly targeted, fallout may be the only thing you're facing.

Nerds or military soldiers who live in in secret facilities. Like you said, once there is a nuclear war only luck and fate decides whether you live or not.

You could increase you luck by living in places away from major cities or bases, but once the war starts everything will probably die and Earth will become uninhabitable.
