Google Cell Phone in the Works?

This seems like a cheaper alternative to the iphone, but can we trust a cell phone from google? They plan to make it cheaper by using advertisements on the phone. I think that google could log browsing information and sell that info to any company looking for it, as they will pay big money for marketing information. Not to mention, they could censor anything they wanted.

Would you buy a phone from google? Why or why not?

Interesting, I was wondering if and when Google would move into the cell phone market,
considering it's one of the most lucrative out there.

Personally, if I like the design and features of the phone, I would'nt have a problem buying it,
I trust Google much more than I trust Apple or most companies for that matter,
they're also the only major search engine that does'nt totally censor results
(in Free countries) either, so I don't really have a problem with them.

I tell you, I'm sold on the cell phone. I even ditched my land line and put that money into cable internet and depend on the cell phone completely, but it's going to take one hell of a leap to make me switch from switch from my fairly low-tech LG phone from Verizon.

Ads?

You can't be serious.

I'd rather not have a phone.

In fact, I rarely use the one I have now.

I use the Google Search engine exclusively, but Google makes me nervous with its affinity for information, so the phone would have to cost something like a nickel a month to even interest me at all.

Looks like Google is takin it to the next level with the phone. I'll bet this gives the iPhone a run for its money (whenever it comes out)

The link has an artist rendering, and the substantiation is below.

Eventhough this is coming from WSJ and Reuters, I would still take all of this with a grain of salt...

I don't care what Google logs on me as I don't search for anything that I wouldn't search for in the book store, convenience store or library, which is to say no overly perverted/suspicious stuff cuz you just don't know who's watchin ya
I'd use this phone in a heartbeat and if they have a noad no contract pay as you go option I'd go for that as I hardly use the phone to contact friends, that's what Facebook is for
