Now if the Mod squad disapproves of this then delete this by all means.

*UPDATE*

Ok something weird is going on!

Up until now I was leaning toward deer. Yesturday (July 31st) at around 2:30AM, I was actually in my house when this happened..........

The same two people that had the original encounter with whatever it was were downstairs, as I was playing Battlefield 2 on my PC upstairs.

This is what my roomate and her/my friend told me...

They went out to have a cigarrette at around 2:30. The front light was on and they both sat down to enjoy a few drags. They both heard in the same spot as the previous encounter what they thought was a rustleing in the woods. Now they both said it sounded really small, like a rabbit or something. The male picked up a few dime sized rocks and threw them into the woods where he heard the sound. The rustleing stopped and they didn't think anything of it and went back inside. Now this is where it gets wierd.
They both went back inside and pressed play on the Tivo to continue what they were watching. About 2 minutes later they said, they started to hear what sounded like little rocks hitting our metal roof awning! They muted the TV and strained to hear the sounds again. They did, and they could clearly hear little rocks hitting our metal roof covering the front area of house. They said it was pretty distinct as the windows were open and they could clearly narrow down the location of the noise.
"Tink"......."Tink", is what they said it sounded like. They were wierded out when they heard this, because they knew what was being hit (our metal roof) and that there are absolutlely no trees over our roof. Not to mention that there are no acorn trees or or any other hard shelled seed trees around our whole property! Ok with that being said, there is only one source of a sound like this. Pebbles or another hard small object were being thrown onto our roof.

Can a deer throw things? No. Can a bear throw things? No. Can pigs throw things? No. Can a rabbit throw things? No.

Now what has the capability of throwing objects? You would have to say a hand of some sort, yes?

Can anyone come up with an explaination as to what happened? I am simply boggled. Now I thought original thing was proabaly a deer, but a deer cannot throw any objects.

So to sum it up......

*Roomate and friend had a cigarette.
*Heard small rustleing in the woods, in same spot as previous encounter.
*The male threw about 5-6 small dime to quarter size rocks into woods in direction of sound.
*Went back inside, and heard about 2-3 mins later the "Tink"...."Tink" sound on the metal roof overhang in front of house. Lasted for about a minute.

Questions:
What can throw small objects?
If there was no hail, or small seed like things falling from trees, what could be a natual reason for this?

Now I would like to note as well, we have never heard anything like this, not once. This, they said, sounded like little pebbles being tossed onto our roof.

Its really too bad I was gaming at the time, I had my headphones on geeking it out hardcore. I will take pictures of my house and the surrounding area if people want me to. I just want to hear someones logical reasoning behind something like this. I am convinced that whatever threw these objects was letting my friends know that it was still there, in the woods, watching......

I thought the timing was very weird, as 2 mins passed and they heard the same objects being thrown as my friend threw into the woods. If this were any weirder, they would be the same rocks!!!!!!!!!

Any ATS thoughts?

Couldn't make this as a reply to my other thread. I wanted some fresh input as this is a seperate incident.

I replied in your original thread. Maybe we should just keep the discussion there?

Not sure what you may have encountered, but as far as the noises of something being thrown, might possilbly be a squirrel.

We live on a fairly populated street with plenty of trees, and when the squirrels are demolishing acorns/anything, the debris that hits our deck can certainly turn heads.

LOL, my wife has been hit in the head a few times.

The story is great, but the other possibilities are plentiful as opposed to being a BF

if it happens again spray paint the rocks bright orange and throw them in the same location, that way if they are thrown back you can immediatly tell the are the same rocks and easily find them.

I would do a couple of things:

1. Buy some see-thru nylon fishing twine and some bells or something similar, and tie them around the area this thing appears in.
2. Get some quality meat, and some quality fruit like apples and pears and lay them out on the ground (cut up a bit but not too much and wash them to get rid of the 'human taint'
3. It appears to happen at night so this thing DOESN'T like human notice - but lots of actual animals are the same, so it could be something natural - using the fruit, lay it nearer the house so you can see the general shape, and maybe get some pictures out of that room you said overlooked the general area
4. Get a reasonably realistic plastic pellet BB gun, water-pistol or toy gun and say something like "If that THING comes around again tonight I'm gonna pop it one with this 'insert gun waving'". Perhaps do it outside if its someone else's kids doing it. Your friends may just be having you on, and they might have got someone else to throw stuff at the house, so if they don't notice its a fake gun, they might own up to pranking you, but I don't advocate SHOOTING or HURTING anything, human or otherwise. Animals will not be intimidated in a language they cannot speak ergo they won't have any idea, this only works on 'humans' as a scare tactic.

I would DEFINITELY start trying to get pictures of the area and stay near your friends, see if that makes a difference, perhaps all go to the porch, or you say you're gonna go gaming but really look out the window and check its not them fooling around. If it was doing it outside my house (well for one it'd get run over, since it'd be on a main road but I digress), I would want to get some pics of this thing, more for my own sanity than anything, but it's always good to share with likeminded people and I'm sure we'd love to see what it is, even if its a three armed mutant, thumbed squirrel with a BB gun.

I'm going to have to say that in my opinion, this is a VERY BAD IDEA. Think about it, would it be wise to purposely have your neighbors witness you waving what appears to be a gun around threatening to shoot something that comes around you house? Best case scenario, your neighbors think you're nuts. Worst case scenario, your neighbors feel threatened and try to get you into all sorts of trouble. Again, definitely not a good idea if you ask me.

No I agree, I don't think its his neighbours, perhaps they have kids? I personally think that it's his friends doing it more than likely, since BOTH times, he's been unable to listen or unavailable by not being there.

I was just thinking of a simple, no danger way of making his point that he's getting mad and isn't going to 'take it' if its a hoax, but I didn't think on the mad angle, good call.

I'd just try the fruit and meat angle, and perhaps watch your friends a bit more closer.
