Demon of Dartmoor: Mystery beast seen at hell hound

Parts of Dartmoor have been used as a military firing range for over 200 years.

I now think that the first pic was a decoy used to catch poachers or a target for practice.Could be wrong though.
Still think that second pic is a panther.

I'm sure there are a few oddities lurking in the countryside.

I remember a few years ago meeting up with a fellow dog walking regular at about 6AM after a fresh snowfall. My pooch was a big Doberman and hers was a HUGE Irish Wolfhound. Walking along the treeline at the bottom of the field in front of my apartment I saw tracks in the fresh snow so we strolled over to take a look. The paw prints were huge and very cat like. Murphy the Irish Wolfhounds feet were leaving prints about half the size (and he was like a pony). Put us both a bit on edge seeing those tracks leading away along the course of an old disused railway line so we hastily retreated back to the other side of the field
I guess non-native creatures can adapt ok to our weather, hence the shaggy Wallabys in (and sometimes out of) Whipsnade Zoo and the flocks of green Parakeets that flock around parts of West London and into Berkshire / Surrey.

I'm just reading through Saturday's Daily Mail [no, it's not mine] and it seems that this "demon" is in actual fact, a 12 stone 2 year old Newfoundland called Troy.

When a picture emerged of a hulking beast stalking the moors, one woman wasn't chilled by rumours of its gaping jaws, glowing eyes and blood-curdling howls.

That's because Lucinda Reid recognised the "Demon of Dartmoor" as ... her pet dog.

It kind of looks like a buffalo. Maybe it's a beefalo.

Personally when I look at it and blurr my eyes, just as the pictures is blurred. I am fairly confident this is a photoshoped image. It is an image of a bear, almost looks like a black bear but smaller. The face looks like it has been photoshoped so the face is shoved in and shoved down a litttle. I am usually the first one to say that there are wierd things out there, but this I feel is a hoax.

Well done Implosion, it works for me especially since it looked like a shaggy dog to me originally.

I believe this to be a sheep plain and simple. This area has plenty of sheep and it makes perfect sense. I have made a simple picture indicating similarities that you can make out from the picture.
