Spain has announced the arrest of a double agent who is suspected of selling secrets to a foreign country for more than two years.

Mr Saiz refused to say who benefited from the intelligence, but Spanish media speculates it was Russia.

Apparently he had been giving away classified information from December 2001 to February 2004.

Although the local media has speculated that Russia was the recipient of his information, the Russian embassy in Spain has denied all accusations.


It seems like a bold move to publicly announce this, in my opinion..

Add this to the tension with the UK regarding the death of Litvinenko and it's clear that EU/Russian relations have soured at least as much as US/Russian relations.

Again I'll say, it looks like Cold War 2.0 is well on its way.
