I've been talking about ganster flicks in another thread and it gave me the idea for this thread. My two favorite movie music moments are, first,
from Goodfellas, with Cream's Sunshine of Your Love playing in the background, Jimmy Conway's (DeNiro) smoking at the bar with that
pissed off look on his face pondering whether to whack out Morrie because Morrie won't stop hassling Jimmy for his share of the Lufthansa heist. The
scene and the song were perfect synergy (spacedoubt ). Here it is:
Second, from Casino, when those two guys were cheating at blackjack and Ace Rothstein (DeNiro) had picked up on it and was watching them while
Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart's I Ain't Superstitious played in the background. Great song with sneaky, cool flow to it just like the scene
itself. Of course the song stopped playing once they cattle prodded one of the cheaters
What are your favorite movie/music moments?
Edit: Added videos. Couldn't find the Casino scene, but here's what happened after the music stopped playing! **EXPLICIT LANGUAGE**
I might have to pick Apocalypse Now as having the best movie music moments for a non-musical.
Can anyone hear The End by The Doors or Ride of the Valkyries without thinking of Apocalypse Now? The scene with the Playboy Bunnies on stage in
front of a combat-weary band of soldiers while Susie Q blares out of the stage speakers. The whole surreal vibe of the movie is magnified by the
sound track.
I thought of another of my favorites. When Forrest Gump was at that Black Panther meeting with Jenny and Jimi Hendrix's Hey Joe was playing in
the background. That guy slapped Jenny and in slo-mo you see Forrest get enraged and he just beats the crap out of the guy.
I also like in Forrest Gump when he and Bubba were flying into Vietnam and CCR's Fortunate Son was playing.
Come to think of it, the part where Forrest just kept running from coast to coast had some great music too; the Doobie Brothers and Jackson Browne
namely.
Rocky 4 when at the end, sly as rocky is giving his new world order speech. he goes on about we can all live on this earth together even though we
have differences.
i think the song is Heart's On Fire - John Cafferty, not sure.
i know its a weird one, but not sure if its movie or just a series, but when i was young i liked fame(you know that dance school in new york show or
movie), you know while there were dancing, and the tune would come on. really liked dancing in my life, and it stirred something in me as a kid.
My favorite too is in Forrest Gump when him and Bubba land in Vietnam.
In Billy Madison when Adam Sandler phones Steve Buscemi and apologizes for whatever he did to him, and Buscemi scratches him off his hit list, and
ELO's "Telephone Line" is playing.
In Tommy Boy when Chris Farley & David Spade are fighting over the radio and a Carpenters song (Superstar) is playing and then it shows them slinging
snot and belting out "Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby."
In "Twilight Zone: The Movie" at the end when John Lithgow is removed from the airplane and he's in the ambulance and Dan Akroyd is the driver and
CCR's "Midnight Special" kicks in.
In Meet the Fockers, during the supposedly touch football game, Gary Glitter's "Rock & Roll Part II" plays.
In Blow when "Cant You See" by Marshall Tucker Band plays.
I like lots of scores too, from like The Hunt for Red October, Braveheart, Alexander etc.
Here's a blast from the past - Rocky Horror Picture Show's Time Warp
I thought of a couple of other great movie/music moments.
The drug deal gone bad scene from Boogie Nights with Night Ranger's Sister Christian and Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl
playing in the background. A great building of tension in this scene. Here it is.

And let's not forget when Dirk Diggler tries to become a recording artist.
This is the In-A-Gada-Da-Vida scene from Manhunter, the original Red Dragon movie, and the first Hannibal Lechter movie, directed
by Michael Mann. This movie was way better than the remake with Ed Norton and Anthony Hopkins. In this scene William Peterson takes out the serial
killer. Enjoy!
