Office of the Vice President of the United States

Back in the early days of the Republic of the United States of America
(I am old enough to remember when that was placed on the world maps) The runner up in the Presidential elections became the Vice President providing a check in a way on executive power. How many would like to go back to that system as opposed to having running mates for Vice President such as we have today.
