Anyways, I respectfully disagree with your "they are from within" theory. And I also think we already have a Cognitive Liberation Movement, it is called UFOlogy. As far as I am concerned, most UFOlogists try to study reality.
Also, exactly how many people on Earth do you think truly believe that something crazy is going to happen in 2012? Probably not very many when you look at the entire population. If people want to believe "doom" is coming in 2012 then so what? Let them believe it. And once 2012 passes and nothing happens, they will obviously feel stupid...
