I came across this website today and found it interesting.
www.blacklightpower.com...

From this website
BlackLight has invented a new primary energy source with applications to Heating, Central Power, Motive Power, and Micro-Distributed power generation. This relies on a new chemical process of releasing the latent energy of the hydrogen atom, the BlackLight Process. In this process, the electron in an ordinary hydrogen atom is induced to move closer to the proton, below the prior-known ground state. Hydrogen gas derived from water serves as the fuel.

A video:

These guys look serious, unlike steorn they do have published papers.

RSB that's quite a find. Thanks for posting this... I'm all "Orbo-ed-out". Now these BlackLight folks seem to offer some science I can relate to.

Cheers,

Vic

I read a bit further and the fundamental thing on which it is based on is that they are able to drop the electron of the hydrogen atom, below its 'lowest' energy state. The energy released in this process is 100 times that of energy released by burning the hydrogen.

Now conventionally thats not possible. The electrons don't go below the ground level. But they seem to have proved it, there are published papers and peer reviews.

Hum, this seems to strike one of my few memory cords.

Yup, I'm not senile yet.

ATS thread 11/4/05 Blacklight power has been peer reviewed, and ok'd

ATS thread 11/9/05 Powersource that goes against Physics

ATS search results for Blacklight

I hope they've advanced beyond what I see in these old threads.

Have they?

Well if their claims of versatility and scalability are made good it would seem to have a variety of uses from hydrides to thermal applications... I'm going to watch this closely. It does seem rather "D'Oh, Why didn't I think of that?" simple and elegant. Sure seems good at this "early days" stage. I can't help but think that this will go MSM at some point.

Didn't the current President of the United States make some interesting statements a couple of years back about this sort of development?

Vic

EDIT: A very impressive management group for those with a conspiratorial mind. Link wink - MIC.

I dunno, but this article looks pretty damning.

Mills's theory is not accepted by the scientific community, and has been largely ignored by it. The only peer-reviewed theoretical evaluation, published in 2005 by Rathke, found "severe inconsistencies" in the theory, including a lack of "solutions that predict the existence of hydrinos". Mills has contested this paper, pointing to a sign error; the sign error does not affect Rathke's main conclusions (see below for details).

Guess its a good thing I haven't been holding my breath since the first threads 2 years ago.

I'm sorry I didn't do a search. (Did not expect common people to know about this, but guess the guys here are sharp !)
Anyway, I'm stirring the pot again. People must know that there are things that can replace oil. It will take just one big co. to start the production of this generator (however crude) and it will snowball, ending the dependencies and evils of oil.

The best thing is that it uses water to get the hydrogen, which burns to form water again. I'm still not totally convinced, as I'm 'show me' kind of guy.

That thread is 2-1/2 years old, I wonder what happened.

No need to be sorry. Its good to relook at this kind of thing to see if they made any progress.

As you said, it only takes one invention to get rid of the oil dependancy. Hopefully it wont be long now.

I'm getting kinda old.

The company has existed for a very long time actually... take a minute or two and read the management section... look for stuff like generals and admirals. I don't see any "light-weights". It (they) might be worth some research at some point...

Then check the Sullivan guy and the sort of bread being thrown around. I'm not American but I do recognize some of those names. I suspect others here may be more aware of that significance than I and their relations to others over history. It would seem they are ramping up for something. Hmmm. I'd not heard of Blacklight before today. Thanks again RSB.

Right, after reading a bit more I have no high hopes here. Wiki describes it as controversial.(Keyword: Hydrino)
But who knows, I've not seen any reputed source saying that it produces no energy (If you do please post). May be the theory and math is wrong but there is some unknown effect. Lets hope there is

I had a look at these guys when I first came to ATS. My opinion on the matter is that this technology does not work, and cannot work. Too much of what they claim violates fundamental physics, and while I am open minded to this kind of thing, in this case, based on their writings and description of the technology, I concluded that it's a hoax.

There is a new press release on their website www.blacklightpower.com...
I have been watching this company for about 6 years and it looks like they are finally ready to "put up". The websites state that have developed a prototype power system generating on demand 50,000 watts of thermal power using its solid fuel in a batch process and has extensively characterized the hydrino products.

I used to work under Michael Jordan who serves on the board of Black Light Power (of Westinghouse and EDS), and rest assured, he is serious and effective business leader.

Schroedinger theory regarding the ground state of hydrogen is just that, at theory. I hope that Randall Mills has proved in wrong.
