John, that's 1856.

The numbers didn't change all that much since then.

no, but the advancement in science has. thus, while there might be some folks that thought, based on the available knowledge at the time, that the moon was with a breathable atmosphere, today's knowledge negates it.

I believe it was more the church than the astronomers themselves that believed that. I could be wrong though.

ancient greek astronomers came before the church.

No. I will be take responsibility for that concept. Although I am not a scientist I am working on how and where the breathable atmosphere is disitributed. ....... Of course gases on the moon have to obey the same laws as here on earth but there may have been a little finagling in the construction of the moon to help keep its secret.

that concept is all yours John. As I asked in my earlier post, can you name a scientist from the modern era (last 30 years) who thinks there is a breathable atmosphere on the moon?

I think we might find a scientist who thinks the moon is made of cheese first but that's just me.

keep hunting john. maybe you will find someone with some actual scientific evidence to support your claims regarding the moon's atmosphere.

when you do, please post it here.
