Qigong is one way, as demonstrated in the video that Now_Then posted, however I hear that these masters are very reluctant to devulge the inner
workings of how they do this, and quite reluctant to take on any apprentices.
I do have a technique that may work for you which is more of a mind ability rather than a spiritual or energetic ability, that goes like this:
You need to focus on the object and then imagine/visualise a tunnel of mind energy/psi between the object and your third eye, creating a link or
connection between your mind and the object. Next you need to imagine/visualise the molecules of the object moving faster and faster so they create so
much friction the object sets alight. If you want to put the fire out, then just visualise the molecules slowing down and the object becoming
cooler.
A good way to practice this is indoors where there is no wind, with a candle. Try to make the candle go out, and when it does try to make it re-light
from the amber. If you are a smoker, you could also practice with the amber at the end of the cigarette. Try to make it burn brighter and faster, or
try to make it go out. Just keep in mind a cigarette will usually go out by itself if you stop taking drags from it, and will burn faster in a windy
environment. For these reasons, a cigarette is not a good measure of how powerful your ability is, and should therefore be used only for practice.
