quote from "The Book Of Constitutions of the United Grand Lodge of England"
" By the solemn Act of Union between the two Grand Lodges of Free-Masons of England in December 1813, it was declared and pronounced that pure
Antient Masonary consists of three degrees and no more , viz., those of the Entered Apprentice, the Fellowcraft and the Master Mason, including the
Supreme Order of the Holy Royal Arch."
Entered Apprentice; is an emblamatical representation of mans birth. It teaches natural equality and universal beneficence, To treat your neighbour
how you would like to be treated and to bow with humility to ones own God.
Fellowcraft; teaches you to live your life with morality and goodness. and to study as far as you are able.
Master Mason; invites you to reflect on your life and to contemplate your end.
Holy royal Arch; to do with the spiritual growth of ones soul.
All the other side degrees are loosely based on the above using different parts of the bible to teach moral lessons.
that is just a brief synopsis as it would be impossible to do a complete one on here. but you should get the general idea.
