Yes, that picture is a photo of dreamland resort / Area 51. There are lots of pics of the base available.

Start here.

Falken, I'd wager that your image is the genuine article. The picture you posted seems to jive pretty well with this image on the FAS Area 51 page, as well as other images of Groom Lake like these, which are cited as being taken from Freedom Ridge in 1995.

I'm not as well versed in the facts/myths/legends of Area 51 as some members of ATS, but I'd guess your picture was taken either from Freedom Ridge or Tikaboo Peak - which, as I understand it, is the nearest civilians can come to the base now that Freedom Ridge is off-limits.

It is indeed Area 51, take a look at this large panorama image with notes on what some features are.

This site is very protective of their images.

This Google Image search will give you hundreds of pictures.

That is indeed the Groom Facility.

I've sat atop Tikaboo and looked at
that same view.

These pictures are more common than most people think. They have been used in many books on secret airplanes and most people don't even realize it. Here's one of an A-12 Blackbird sitting in frontof its hanger at Groom Lake:

If you look at the tanks on the hill, you can tell this photograph is very old. There are now 3 additional tanks.

I think most of these pictures are old. The one in the post above is the origional A-12 prototype (I believe). That would make the photo from around 1962 or so.

The images are certainly useful regarding buildings and such. Since the operation at Groom Lake knows every bird overhead, they won't show anything they don't want you to see. Photography from Tikaboo is probably more useful since they can't plan around it.

Yeah, but couldn't the government post security on the peak, or whatever it is they do?

When a person or group ascends Tikaboo,
Groom knows it.

I'd think it a thorn in their side, but how
often are there people atop Tikaboo ?

Satellites flyovers give prior notice. I don't phone the base and tell them when I'm about to climb Tikaboo. In any event, the good stuff is flown at night.

Tikaboo is probably occupied 30 to 40 days a year. Just a guess.
