Handy installation Windows

Don't know what to do so I am going to write how you could effectively install Windows.

After formatting and stuff you have to do the setup of Windows. Wrong ! No you don't, what you need to do is in c:\

md windows
cd windows
md opions
cd options
md cabs
cd cabs
copy e:\win98 (or whatever drive you have the Windows cd in)

Then run the setup of Windows.

Everytime an installation programm asks for the Windows cd you can now give as path c:\windows\options\cabs so no reason for the cd anymore.

When he asks when setup is going on in which path Windows should be installed the name is at that point windows.000 that should be changed into Windows.

So now you don't need the windows cd anymore for installing hardware Wow.

Sorry, but isn't this pretty obvious?

This is what's called a hard-drive install... I am sure it was obvious to Windows users anyway. But then I come from a Unix background, so hard-drive installs and installing accross a network are normal.

Anyway, thanks for that information I'm sure it will be helpful for a lot of people

Sorry if I sounded hard at the start, I just thought hard-drive installs were mentioned in the Windows manuals? Oh well, obviously not.
