Fans of the Halo Games will remember that there was a ARG (Alternative Reality Game) that Bungie ran for Halo 2. The campain went almost 6 months or more, including mesages that were send over Pay phone lan lines. Bungie went to great depth and had puit a great amount of work into the Halo2 viral campain. The ilovebees site was the main part of the campain, it gave infomation and stored the sound data files that people collectd that gave hints at the games story.

I Think it is reasonable to think that there would be some sort of Viral for Halo 3, and there seems to be some evidence mounting that this could be the case, its about 3-4 months til h3 is realesed and it makes sense to start campaining now,

Do I have this right. Please bear with me.
So the Microsoft company, renown for displaying complete lack of creativity, void of any real artistic contributions, have now taken to waxing poetic, and have sent cryptic poems for people to decode?

Oh boy...

Hello all!

I just joined ATS so bear with me please. First, I have been following the drone issue and the Halo 3 arg pre-game events.

No URLs were gleaned from the poem. The first URL was discovered in a Circuit City ad. It lead to comic on the bungie site. In the comic another URL was hidden. That is the URL of the countdown timer. I believe that the site will go "live" on the 21st. Here is a link to the timeline of events which shows who, what and where. halo.wikibruce.com...
The unfiction boards have discussed this drone and are convinced that the drone is not part of the halo 3 ARG.

Thanks

I'm sure it's been noted, but I'll state it anyway: The "Forerunner" glyph, looks very much like the earlier "drones".

He is right.

Look at the design. It is basically a schematic of the first craft.

I think that basically clinches it for us. Great find.

Here's what's fascinating me the most of all the discussions on this, we have several camps rooted in various ideas on what this Drone is related to:

Halo 3 based on Glyphs (Which I can't really see any relationship)

Transformers Movie based on .... well, the movie is going to be released in 2 weeks.... and there's a drone from the Beast Wars series that.... eh, does not really fit either.

I've gone out there and went to several comic book stores, picked up all the movie comics and browsed everything I could about the movie and earlier history of the Transformers.

Nothing, nothing, nothing.

So when the Transformers movie comes out, and everyone goes to see it, we are either going to be treated to this thing on the Big Screen, or it's just not there...and more pictures come out on this thing....

So we shift our focus to Halo 3.... which ... could still be the connection, but more and more I read about what has been found in Halo 3... I'm getting the suspicion that this isn't related to Halo 3 either... sure, you can look at the glyphs and kind of if you look real hard and want it to look similar, I suppose it could be... but I think that's really lazy and not a clinch hitter by any stretch of the imagination.

I say keep looking but at this point.... I think this is probably a single individual doing this... I would expect more follow up information from Coast 2 Coast or Earthfiles, or even UFOCasebook since the information for the individuals submitting the first material from Big Basin is supposedly open and willing to come out on this.

There's been absolutely NO mainstream media coverage on any of these, which, with quality clear unknown craft in the skies, you would think the news would be all over it.... I suspect the News media knows something we obviously don't or have yet to discover.

That image is what was the initial impetus for people to decode the poem and follow all the rest of the links. If you check the UFO link website, at the bottom of the page is the same glyph supposedly embedded in a boulder in AFrica.

So this was the trail (see my previous post) for the Halo decoders that initially kicked it off...

Nice....That makes sense
Now I can clearly see how the "poem" was decoded. I personally like that style of marketing campaign as I'm sure other gamers do as well. Is it entirely original? No, but it is a very affective marketing campaign.

Note though that the 'hello kitty' website is still in question as far as a link or trail from/to...other than the fact that they had a drone jpg there, hidden, and named AR.JPG... (ARG=alternative reality gaming...AR.jpG) Its a stretch, but keep digging.

BTW, with regards to this image:

This would logically be assumed that this image was photoshopped to create the appearance of the glyph in a rock in Africa.

Can some photoshop pros check out the image for:

  • More clues perhaps embedded there
  • Evidence of photoshop work there to create supposed false glyph
  • Maybe the name 'CHAD' embedded in microprint pixels (we'd be so lucky, but you never know)

  • Anything else we could glean from it or any of the other related HALO images with this campaign....

    Hey Guys...

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this, or looking so hard for something that I'm finding anything but:

Does anybody else think, on the bottom picture at least.

Everybody has been trying to figure out what the font is, or the "language" is, or what the letters are.

Well, on the bottom picture, the "front" section of the main arm (the longest part). Doesn't it sort of read (left to right)

    +7()YA (but obviously heavily italicised/doctored.

Or, if you want to read it another way (and upside down), couldn't that just be (ignoring the cross shape):

    LOHA

or, using some amazing powers of deduction!

    HALO

    ??

As I said, there is a good chance that I'm just searching and my mind is making leaps that aren't there but, if you stop intellectualising and just look at the 'letters' for what they are, you could certainly argue that they're heavily stylised versions of the letters LOHA (assuming of course that the craft should be flipped the other way).

What do you think? Perhaps I'm being silly, or perhaps the message is deceptively simple?

Ok Guys, perhaps now I'm REALLY starting to read into things now but I think I might be onto something.

I've started looking at the letters and just trying to equate them to the nearest English letter. Perhaps not the most scientific thing, but I figure some people have gone out on such a limb looking for the answers that they're not trying simple solutions.

Well, firstly I feel I might have found a not so carefully concealed rearrangement of the letters L0HA to form "HALO"

And that led me thinking: what else looks like it might be stylised English letters?

Well, if you look at the top picture, the writing closest to the main body of the craft, and you strip it down to its simplest form, it reads the letters:

    LVX

I typed this in, and got some potential leads.

First of all, wikipedia lists LVX as a Magical Formula:

    Wikipedia Entry

But, to go one step further, the 'LVX' is also an organisation based in California:

    Link to LVX website

Now, I don't think this drone has anything to do with them exactly BUT.

The abbreviation LVX alludes to the Latin word LUX, which means "LIGHT".

The Halo related image that has been posted up has several references to light, including:

    "Moving faster than the light"

    and

"Look for the signs, the keepers of the flame"

By contrast, darkness is also mentioned. There are also some references to circular shapes ("winding", "spin further"), these could be allusions to HALO and also the circular nature of the drone.

It is late, so I apologise if I'm going off on one. Also, I have rather shamefacedly never played any Halo game, so my knowledge on whether any of my theories have further application to the game is limited. Overall though, I think it's a theory worth carrying through. Can anybody else look at the letters with an open mind and see any other words, abbreviations or potentially English phrases? We've studied every other language under the Sun trying to establish what this is, we might as well try English as well!

This is so crazy, it could go either way.

I guess it's just how we interpret the information already found.

It seems unlikely that Bungie would ever have a plausible reason for doing all that just to show a marginal amount of people how awesome their game is. They'd probably just try to show as many people as possible, and this seems like a waste of their resources and time.

Although, Bungie works in VERY mysterious ways.

I still think the whole C2C drone thingy is fake, but for what reason, I don't know.

Advertisement seems unlikely, and nobody got a massive amount of publicity (maybe a little) over this.

I would think that in order for it to be effective in viral marketing at least, some story would need to develop around the pictures or photos that are being released. I'm not really seeing any story about this thing, other than people seeing it and hearing about it either on C22 or Earthfiles etc.

I would think if it had some relationship to Halo or even Transformers, there would be something that would hint towards the story of what it is, or what its doing that might be unique to either Halo or Transformers... even the witnesses if it was viral marketing might leave clues to something.

The font, the writing, the design of this craft, it's location, etc aren't revealing much in those areas.... The font / writing has an Asian feel to it, but then again, this would swing more towards Transformers than it would Halo.

Being a Transformers fan since I was young, I've never seen anything really like this in relationship to the Transformers, it would be hard for me to relate the two on what has been provided so far, and the movie will be in Theaters in just about 2 weeks.

Halo, never played the game, but I've seen pictures, I've looked at the glyphs, and I'm pretty familiar with the design and feel of Halo, again, if this is Halo, the Locations, the design, the Font / Writing, the stories related to the images should clearly reflect something similar to Halo in order for it to be a real solid lead...
