A Georgia judge ordered the release Monday of a man sentenced to 10 years in prison for having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17. The state attorney general, however, notified the man’s lawyers that he would appeal.
Under the ruling, Wilson, who has been behind bars for more than two years, would not be required to register as a sex offender.
“It is extremely, extremely disturbing that the attorney general would take this action now,” she said. “In essence the attorney general is saying, ’Keep Genarlow Wilson in prison for 10 years and keep him on the sex offender registry.”’

I heard about this case a while back and I was outraged. The sex was consensual I dont see the problem. So what she was 15 he was only 17 In H.S those rules dont matter seeing how some freshman have classes with seniors.The only reason he prob. was charged is because the girls' parents were pissed.I remember hearing a few months ago that this case went to the Georgia Supreme court and all of the black judges wanted to review it but the white judges didnt want to. By a vote of 3-4 (i believe) they didnt review it. This boys life is ruined.It is going to be a registered sex offender.He was on his way to college on a full scholarship. Its going to be hell trying to get a good job.The state should definitely compensate him monetarily. If I were him I'd sue for a few million.

This is a case of justice gone awry. He was 17 still legally a minor and the girl was 15. Good grief he needs to be released; not on a register and compensated. Were I him I'd be seeking damages.

I am in total agreement with the above post. The laws he prosecuted under were designed to deal with sexual predators not consenting highschool kids.
There is no way that kid should ever be listed on any sexual deviant list,

Yeah I had read that. It was BS then and it still is. The kid should get himself a good lawyer. He just hit the jackpot.

Why was he charged in the first place? He was only 17! How do you get 10 years in prison for teenage hanky-panky???

Oh poor kid, I could have been charged with this same thing god knows how many times when I was in high school. Shesh. two years difference is nothing. Thats normal. If it was consensual then there was no crime committed except to take away this poor boy's youth.

I think he would have a great case against the state if he got the right lawyer.

Its embarrassing that this guy was ever put into jail. Set him free.

This is a control issue. Big brother wants to control every aspect of our lives
from cradle to the grave.

Make an example of this poor kid. Instill fear in his contemporaries and control their minds thru fear and intimidation. Scare em enough when they are young and you can save a lot of time when they are adults.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll have no place in a homogeneous society.
