Hacker Terrorists Strike Air Traffic Control System

I have my pilot's license and have taken several college programs for aviation and air-traffic-control. This story reeks of deception and disinfo.

On Friday 6/8/2007 thousands of flights were seriously delayed and canceled including the flight of a family member of mine who is still stranded on the east coast as I author this thread. This story is being hushed and spun for some reason. I am not sure why yet.

Rumor in the aviation community is already ringing that this computer attack was the work of hacker terrorists in an effort to cause millions in financial loss and negatively influence the daily lives of normal US citizens. These are the two top goals of terrorists.

The systems of the FAA and ATC are so outdated that they are easily vulnerable to even amateur hackers. This weakness has been exploited and unless the Govt. and FAA wake-up and start spending adequate amounts on ATC and upgrading technology, these attacks will occur again.

I love how the term Terrorist is starting to be used to describe all sorts of people. Now its those terrorist hackers

The problem is also that the system is so old that it doesn't NEED help to crash all by itself. This is just another example of them trying to use ancient technologies FAR longer than they should be using them. Just look at the radar system that's STILL in use today. And they're saying another 10+ years to get a new system up and running.

there was a story today on bbc website about flights in beijing being disrupted but they attribute it to 3 radio controlled cameras 14km away working on the same frequency. the story struck me as a little odd at the time so maybe theres more to it than that

It's easier than people realize to disrupt radar sets for ATC. Pearl Harbor and the Sand Island USCG Station can't test radars without telling ATC well ahead of time, because some of the frequencies will interfere with the control tower radar.
