hushmail.com is what I have used in the past. I liked it because it hid the originating IP address. Haven't used it in months though - they might not offer a free service anymore.

Was going to make a thread, but found out the search function actually used my keywords this time... cool! Anyway...

Yes, hushmail still provides free encrypted email service. A few of my friends and I have just started to use this service, one that the FBI and National Security Agency (among others) do not like... Wired News about Hushmail
