Oh well. Let her think she's a voice of reason. It's not our problem.

I really do feel sorry for "some of you". From what I am reading many of you shouldn't even be in this forum IMO you only come here to cause trouble.

I come here to share with you what they have given me to share and you don't even realize it. You can use your insulting words it only belittles you, and when the time comes you sure will look .......... how sad.

If you don't like what Sleeper and I have to offer here just put us on ignore.

You can save your insults I'm not returning to this thread again.

Hey Observe50 can you please relay your first experience with aliens? and any information you can tell us about them

I would recommend you NOT believe anyone who claims to “Know” ANYTHING about the true nature of UFO’s.

I have seen, with multiple witnesses, several UFO’s. Two time they were “up close and personal.” I’ve also had a couple of “contact” experiences.

I’ve read a lot of UFO “stuff”, both in print form and on the internet.

I can honestly say that I have never heard or read anything that I would consider credible information.

I would recommend Allister Crowley’s advice:

“Doubt,
Doubt all,
Doubt, even if thou doubtest all…”

You are not likley to find ANY proof of UFO's.

You may want to adopt the attitude that we may NEVER know the truth about UFO's

I'm willing to take Observe50's word for it - provisionally - that he (she?) remembers being inside alien ships. The mistake is to equate such memories with actual occurrences. There you are on much less solid ground.

I have - briefly - experienced false memories. They are quite odd but can also be enjoyable. the danger comes in committing to them, thus falling down a very deep rabbit hole. It was only by piecing together other memories and documents that I was able to persuade myself that the memory in question was false. A shame, really - it was a nice one.

That is not what she said. You have every right to question observe50's message. Its the attack on the messanger and not the message she speaks of. At least try to be polite and show some respect for her onging courage to speak on this forum.

I'd be happy to be polite if she were. This is what she said:

really do feel sorry for "some of you". From what I am reading many of you shouldn't even be in this forum IMO you only come here to cause trouble.

She said: "you shouldn't even be in this forum." Should not? In other words, "agree with me or leave." That's a controlling and manipulative thing to say. If she wants a place where she can pontificate and not be held accountable, I suggest starting a blog. It's not even her thread. She just came on here to enlighten the rest of us slobs.

I come here to share with you what they have given me to share and you don't even realize it.

She said: "and you don't even realize it." She is placing herself in a superior position. She knows. We're ignorant. Sorry, but I'm not willing to fall down on my knees in front of her guiding light.

If you don't like what Sleeper and I have to offer here just put us on ignore. You can save your insults I'm not returning to this thread again.

Contradiction. "Ignore me. I'm never coming back." Well, I guess that's pretty easy to do then.

Be careful when you accuse of others of argumentum ad hominem that you understand what it means. Contradicting statements such as "you shouldn't be here" is not attacking the person at all. It's attacking a point of view. If I had said, "You're just a bored old grey-haired grandmother." now THAT is an attack against the person. But telling someone that their arguments suck is NOT an attack on the person. She's the one who claims special knowledge. She's the one who claims to have been on an alien craft. And she expects us to just say, "Yeah, well okay. Enlighten me."

Even mentioning this person is a grandmother is IRRELEVANT to the discussion, and it was you who brought that up.

Everyone has their own unique experiences and stories to tell. They're entitled to their own opinions. Alot of people research such craft or get their knowledge from other stories. There's no way to really know if it's true or real. You just have to believe them or disbelieve them. The best way to handle it is in your own mind. Don't call them out and call them liers or something like that. That will just make it worse and bring you in to their level. Just research yourself and know what's right and wrong. Then you'll know who's who in these threads. That's all I can tell you. I myself have never been abducted or seen a real flying saucer or aliens.

I agree with this up to a point.

But I disagree that you have to believe or not believe.

I believe (lol) that it is a fallacy of our civilization that we constantly ask people to believe or not believe various things for which we have very little evidence.

Its faith ( a very important human condition) manipulated and exploited because we feel we have to 'own' a concept of our world. We are simply incapable of this. We can only know a very little of what is real before we die. Yet because we are so desperate to 'own' a complete and total world view, we end up believing and disbelieving a vast array of things without the slightest clue as to why.

So rather than going through this forum categorizing things into 'believable' and 'unbelievable', I generally just categorize things on the basis of how much overlap there is in a story and any evidence presented.

Otherwise, we tend to believe way way too much that we can't possibly justify.

I found this out the hard way when I got a medical condition with no known explanation. Doctors began to shun me, assuming I was crazy. That's when I realized that the human condition is to hold on to our beliefs and ignore the evidence (debunk.)

Answers such as those are usually from other people's encounters as mentioned in their book/blog/TV show/radio interview/whatever.

Reading a lot of UFO nonfiction can put all sorts of ideas in your head.

Unless the people making the claims are contactees, they are just recounting theories they heard somewhere else.

You are completely right that there are many pos(t)ers who pretend to have deep and detailed knowledge that they can't support with any evidence at all. This is a variant of what is known as "Cargo Cult Science" that Feymnan spoke about. With a little experience you can see it coming from a mile away.

Well said, and absolutely correct.

Thank you, disownedsky.

A few threads i see them going into specific details about craft or why such a thing does such a thing. Most of the time i am baffled as to how they know such as it seems priviledged information. Are these crackpots? or genuine knowledgeable people?

Over the last 50 years, UFO study has developed a rich mythology. In the same way that a Star Trek geek can tell you what kind of droid is common on what ship or planet, so can people versed in the UFO mythology place ships and aliens into standardized categories. After all, everyone knows that Greys do different things than Reptilians, who are also different from the Nordics. Right?
