Here's a crazy plan to do a few things together that would be more difficult one at a time....
1. Secure the border. No one comes in. We need to be way more careful nowadays. Where do we get the money/ manpower? See point three.
2. Deport illegals. All of them. Believe me, we can afford a bunch of buses easier then the burden we carry now. This will immediately improve the
quality of the services we pay for: Education, Corrections Facilities, Emergency Rooms/ Hospitals, all the over-crowded problems are relieved right
now. And with point three, the Mexicans will be going back to a better place.
3. Legalize drugs. Let's just start with weed if we have to. They can be controlled and taxed with all the same restrictions as liquor.
This immediately frees up: more prison space, a LOT of law enforcement professionals who already posses the necessary skills and training for
Border Patrol.
Also, this immediately dowses the power and corruption of the drug cartels. No black market demand=no money for bribes. No more power for the
bad guys. This is the only thing that gives Mexico a chance to retake its greatness IMO. Nothing can happen while the cartels are in charge.
4. Reintroduce small farms to the landscape of America. We're supposed to be OK with the fact that giant corporations bought out millions of acres
of family farms and now they can't pick all the fruit without illegals? IMO It should be easier to be a farmer, not harder.
5. Move Tobacco crops to Hemp production. There is already an industry set up to gain from legalization. With tobacco steadily decreasing, this crop
is worth a lot more then just smoke. Hemp is extremely versatile.
So you see, I don't think any single one of these can happen without at least one of the other things. They all lend themselves to eachother nicely.
I think it's a step towards a more mature, more serious nation.
