I've seen the images of what magnetic fields look like when generated (covering a nice radius from pole to pole), so how are they
transformed/condensed/manipulated into a beam like form and sent from their source to a small, designated area?
According to physicists, you can shape the field, but you can't project it forward (like a laser beam). Here's a nice, brief, understandable (plain
English) version of the answer: www.newton.dep.anl.gov...
These short-range shaped fields are actually strong enough to shape some metals: researchnews.osu.edu...
