TERRORISM: Krekar won in court

Mulla Krekar's first day in court resulted in victory for Krekar and his attorney, Brynjar Meling. Krekar will however remain imprisoned until his chase have been treated by the High Court.

The court found no basis to accommodate Norwegian authorities request to take Krekar into custody. The court decided there was no good reason for suspecting Krekar for the terror accusations in question.

Norwegian authorities appealed, and they notified media that the police will have more information and evidence connecting Krekar to the terror accusations when his chase is treated in High Court.

One of the main reasons the court didn't find good reason to suspect Krekar was the low credibility of the witnesses. The court claimed that the ex Ansar al-Islam members who have witnessed against Krekar have no credibility because they have made their statements while they where imprisoned at Ansar al-Islam's main opponent, PUK. The court also point out that the witnesses who spoke out against Krekar could be political prisoners
