Boy who slept in trash bin is student of the year

Eleven-year-old D.J. Graffree didn't realize he was a child.

For much of his life, he was a cocky kid who didn't need any adults to look after him or tell him what to do. He was always in and out of schools in his small town outside of Jackson, Miss. He spent a lot of times out on the streets.

At one point, he slept in a trash bin to stay warm.
"He never had a chance to play or never had a birthday party," she said. "He's missed out on a lot of his childhood things."

This is just a heart warming story. Its nice to see that he provided an environment toturn his life around. I commend his cousin for talking on the responsibility of another child after taking in his brothers. I hope he stays on track and has a stable healthy environment. I wonder what where this world woulod be if all of us (who are able to) take on a child who doesnt need much..just love. It would save alot of children's lives.

That is a great story. With so much terrible news blasted at us every single day, it's stories like this one that give a glimmer of hope. Nice find IC.

This story brought tears to my eyes.Sometimes all a child needs is to be shown a little love and compassion and it can work miracles.Thanks for posting this.IMHO there should be a forum just for "good news" stories like this one.
