Giant circles markings on ground

Can someone throw some light on it?

How recent it is? Its strange that the Scientology guys claim it as theirs. It is the first "forest circle" that I've seen.

They probably did build this to attract aliens or something, but that's certainly not proof that they exist.

Those scientologists are pretty freaky.

The marking is the logo of the Church of Spiritual Technology, Inc., a holding company of sorts for Scientologist L. Ron Hubbard's archives in a vault in the desert nearby.



The Scientologists are known for some rather bizarre claims and behavior. Scratching the logo into the desert floor is supposed to be a "signpost" for "alien scientologists" returning to Earth from space.

The circles/logo looks rather crude, IMO. Looks like something you can accomplish in an afternoon by dragging some chain link fence behind your pick-up. That and a case of beer will yield similar results.

Did a little hunting and pecking - found the circles/logo if anyone wants to see it for themselves (using Google Earth, NASA Worldwind, or MSFT Virtual Earth - or any GIS):

The logo is at: 35 31' 26.70" N 104 34' 30.14" W. About ten miles west of of the town of Trementina, new Mexico.
