I wanted to adress this as a real urban threat and tie it into the RMA(Revolution in Military Affairs)

I went public with my question below in this thread but realized the potential of this situation upon discovering UGCV's. The show Futureweapons discussed how the systems define an obsticle and ask how to respond. I imeaditaly asked myself; Could RFID chips be used when UGCV's ask friend or foe? Shoot or stand down?

If the U.S. government institued a RFID policy that joined the transitioning to unmanned warriors with the need for U.S. citizens to accept chips so these systems can identify you would anyone be willing?

Playing Devils Advocate...

The chips could be used to identify U.S. citizens specifically so UGCV's could exteriminate masses in urban combat, for starters, or at secutrity checkpoints.

Think about this profoundly because tomorrow's war will be fought from behind a camera's lens.

This thread contains an awesome and true depiction of where DARPA is headed for future wars.

My question is would you get an RFID chip in your arm if it meant during an invasion or Martial Law UGCV's could identify you as friendly and would not shoot?

One of those things had BAD problems a year or so ago. They were shooting the FN M249 and moving. A track stuck and it started to swing towards the 4 star folks watching. Took a 250lb man to stop the thing, nobody was hurt. Details in SMALL ARMS REVIEW. But to answer you question NO WAY. I would use them for target practice. Barrett .416 shoots farther than it can
Honestly, what happens if you toss a 2 dollar wool blanket over it.....or dig a hole it can run into.....they are pointless IMHO unless they fly. Which we have already and scare me much more

Ehh, these things dont autonimously decide weather to shoot or not. They may define friend/foe but when it comes to firing a weapon, especially for SWORDS there is always 4 safeties and a man in the loop.

RFID me now.

I don't have any problems with them or ID cards. The whole world is going to hell in a hand basket and if you don't comply, then you die.

Do they come with a silly robotic voice "Come quietly, or there will be... ...trouble.

Improvised Explosive Device.

I wonder if it has ever occurred to the genius leadership that old soldiers have memories. I was in Vietnam, and even though that was a long time ago, I remember the tricks used on us.

Every war has veterans. Every veteran has memories of what will work and what can be made. Taking over America might be a wee bit harder than planned.

Just a thought.

I re read my post and sorry I came off like a as*****. It needs so much work at this point that the chip in your arm thing and the fear of these things roaming the streets is so far off our kids kids wont see it. Too much liablity to put those armed to their own decision making on US streets. In the end it comes to money. With all things. I would not sweat it. IMHO

Our department has one with a water cannon and 12GA shotgun. 99 percent of the time it does not work
The day come where you see one stand on top of it...JK
