The problem is, you still wouldn't be able to tell manufactured memories from the real thing. At least not scientifically. For example, as an artist,
one of my abilities is visualizing a piece as finished, before I even put pencil to paper. Such a mental image would not be factual if plucked from my
head prior to the drawing, but nobody would be able to tell the difference.
Then you have the truly dillusional. They could see things completely differently. I'm reminded of the recent "alien reptoid" episode of
CSI...where a woman saw others as reptillians and would slay them. In her mind, she sees the reptoid, so that's the image that would be generated. No
way to conclude if it's factual..especially if she had a good imagination.
