Music files that exist on your hard drive can be transferred to your iTunes Library, and played on your iPod Nano. I recently bought an iPod a few months ago, and it was very simple to operate.

You are not required to purchase songs through iTunes in order to listen to your iPod.

Yeah, if MP3 files are automatically transfered to ipod format through itunes. All you have to do is click import file or import folder from the itunes menu and it will import the songs. And you can insert a cd into the drive and when you open itunes it should rip the songs on to itunes.

I have an ipod video and i dont have to buy the songs if i already have them on my computer or on CDs. So i guess its the same with the a nano.

I had to transfer my songs to my apple library so they could be compatable with my ipod. But that costs nothing.

Well, i dont really even pay for the songs that i do buy!! haha my parents pay for them for me.

But you should start up a seperate debit card ( or whatever your going to pay with..) account and put small amounts of money in it at a time, so in case you want to cancel it or maybe it gets stolen there want be much on the card. Thats what my mom did for me.
