And i was not saying it was a bad weapon. My 2nd cousin was in SAS in iraq and he said sometimes theu would use captured AK's.

I apologize if my comments came off that I was attacking you, I didn't mean it that way.

I was just trying to emphasize that most people have an idea in their head of what it's like to be shot at, or how they would react if they were being shot at. Yet when it actually happens, live fire training doesn't mean jack. The sound is the same, but the feeling of imminent death is new.

I noticed someone on this thread mentioned the AK47 was first manufactured in 1949.
Does anyone know if the AK was used by the communist side during the Korean War?

"I sleep well. It's the politicians who are to blame for failing to come to an agreement and resorting to violence," Kalashnikov said

One of the most defying handguns ever to be produce and it was made by a guy who just wanted to make agriculture machines.

I have a lot of respect for Mr. Kalashnikov.

Ok I like guns. Just not in the hands of civilians, BUT if I ever had the need for something to send them to the cemetery then it would most definitely be the AK47

Of course not that I have ever had the pleasure of handling one of these superb machines my choice is mainly derived from the positive feed back you always get whenever the AK47 is mentioned.

Ordell Robbie [Samuel L. Jackson] Jackie Brown 1997: Quote: AK-47. The very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every MF in the room, accept no substitutes.

not that i actually know much of how guns behave in such a manor but is that supposed to set on fire? looks kinda dodgey to me

at any rate (750Rp/m in this case
) that gun has to be the best there is ever. also i believe that the good folks at AK have made another version in the old 7.62 caliber, the AK-103

AK-103 (Russia)

Caliber, mm: 7.62x39
Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt with 2 lugs
Length, mm: overall: 943; w/folded butt 700;
Barrel Length, mm: 415
Sighting range,m: 1000
Machine gun weight, g: 3,400
Magazine capacity, rds: 30
Rate of fire, rds/min: 600

Back to the future... Comeback of the 7.62mm cartridges is inspired by some weak points of low-impulse 5.45/5.56mm loads. More powerful than its predescent AK-74, this rifle employs many of today's new technologies. Long live AK-47 :-)

My first thought was they were trying to be cool and put plenty of oil inside the gun when cleaning. Anyway I just thougfht it was cool on how fast you can sling lead.

AK-47 is one of the best guns ever. period. The only rifle I like more is the FN-P90. It never jams, its easy to use, and it's powerful. The long-range innaccuracy is nearly irrelavent. it's an assault rifle, not a sniper rifle. its meant for short-medium range combat. I wouldn't be surprised if we say another 50-60 years of this weapon.

P90s are NOt rifles, sub-machineguns.
