Robertson's Divine Intervention on Bush
By SONJA BARISIC, AP

NORFOLK, Va. (Jan. 2) - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Friday he believes God has told him President Bush will be re-elected in a "blowout" in November.

"I think George Bush is going to win in a walk," Robertson said on his "700 Club" program on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded. "I really believe I'm hearing from the Lord it's going to be like a blowout election in 2004. It's shaping up that way."

[...]

The Rev. Barry W. Lynn, a frequent Robertson critic and executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, said he had a prediction of his own: "Pat Robertson in 2004 will continue to use his multimillion broadcasting empire to promote George Bush and other Republican candidates."

In a reference to Bush's political adviser, Lynn said, "Maybe Pat got a message from Karl Rove and thought it was from God."

Too bad Robertson didn't have such insight during his own failed Presidential bid. Though he clearly thought he did: "When I said during my presidential bid that I would only bring Christians and Jews into the government, I hit a firestorm. "What do you mean?" the media challenged me. "You're not going to bring atheists into the government? How dare you maintain that those who believe in the Judeo-Christian values are better qualified to govern America than Hindus and Muslims?" My simple answer is, "Yes, they are." (Pat Robertson, The New World Order, p. 218)

But perhaps one should be careful of publicly criticizing Robertson, who earned a bit of infamy last summer by asserting the State Department should be nuked.

McCain, a United States senator from Arizona who was battling then Texas Gov. George W. Bush for the GOP nomination, described Roberston (and Falwell) in a speech in Virginia Beach, Va., as "on the outer reaches of American politics and the agents of intolerance..."

McCain lost the nomination to God-endorsed Bush shortly thereafter.

I read this on Drudge earlier today and thought, "Is this a joke?". But unfortunatley, Robertson takes himself very seriously. And even more unfortunate that the people who watch this religious zealot take him seriously.

Seems I remember him saying a few years ago that "God" told him that if he didn't raise a million dollars by a certain date, "God" would take him from his loyal followers...I guess he raised his million.

This guy loves to draw attention to himself and gives Christians a bad name in the process.

I find it quite comical to say the least.

It is strange that a man of God that places such emphasis on bringing religion into politics would opt for Bush over Reverend Shapton.

I'd love to hear Robertson's rationale for why Brother Sharpton is NOT endorsed by God, but W is. Heck, I'd love to hear his rationale for why God didn't help Robertson win himself!

Yes, now that you mention it, that does sound right.

I guess my problem is that Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson, Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker are all interchangeable.

Their all wolves in sheeps clothing! When they speak all I hear is garbage!

LOL!

I think Robertson acted in a HIGHLY improper fashion when he revealed God's vote this early in the game. This could influence future votes!

What a maroon.

Al Sharpton isn't a man of supply side Jesus. Christians don't follow Jesus's ways anymore they follow supply side Jesus.

"A bit off"???

Frankly his predictions scare me.

The termites are in charge now, and that is not the way it ought to be, and the time has arrived for a godly fumigation." (Pat Robertson, New York Magazine, August 18, 1986)

America was attacked by terrorists "because God Almighty is lifting His protection from us." Rampant secularism, the occult, abortion, the absence of prayer in schools and insults of God "at the highest level of our government" had sent the Almighty over the edge. (Statement posted on his Christian Broadcast Network, CBN, web site.)

"The strategy against the American radical left should be the same as General Douglas MacArthur employed against the Japanese in the Pacific . . . bypass their strongholds, then surround them, isolate them bombard them, then blast the individuals out of their power bunkers with hand-to-hand combat. The battle for Iwo Jima was not pleasant, but our troops won it. The battle to regain the soul of America won't be pleasant either, but we will win it." ("Pat Robertson's Perspective," April - May, 1992)

"If Christian people work together, they can succeed during this decade in winning back control of the institutions that have been taken from them over the past 70 years. Expect confrontations that will be not only unpleasant but at times physically bloody.... This decade will not be for the faint of heart, but the resolute. Institutions will be plunged into wrenching change. We will be living through one of the most tumultuous periods of human history. When it is over, I am convinced God's people will emerge victorious." (Pat Robertson, Pat Robertson's Perspective octavo 1992)

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist." (Pat Robertson)

Come on, if Al Jazeera said this stuff about us, we'd bomb them to the stone age. (Oh we did). For my money, Robertson and Bin Laden should both be in a mental institution (or under a jail).

Pat Robertson is a political preacher who has not learned to keep church and state separate.
He is on a zealot, and a hypocritical one that has had more encounters with "foot-in-mouth" disease then many, many men will have in their lifetimes.....

I read/hear this, and can only think of one thing.

"Here you go people, Preacher Jackass!"

Hello all you mindless shepp, give me money! Anyways, mindless sheep, give me money then kill a gay man. Also mindless sheep, kill blacks, democrats, and asians! Then when you are done with that mindless sheep, send me more money! Vote for god, vote corrupt republican!"

Anyways, if stupidity was a crime punishable by death, him and the christians that follow him would be six feet under.

I think the fanitics like the racists ought to be locked up togather and let them wipe each other out than the rest of us could live in peace

On a serious note to Christians you should be Leary of Pat. He has predictions on the 2nd of January as far back as I can remember. None of them ever come true. He does make money from his predictions (advertisers and donations to the 700 club.) He does glorify himself like all televangelist. He is a false prophet!! And by supporting him financially you are supporting this evil and you will burn for it.

Pat Robertson is a freaking idiot. fundamentalists are one thing but this guy takes the cake. I mean, he said that all gays belong in hell!! He acts all superfundie and pretends he's a christian even tho he's a hypocrite but i don't give a damn b/c i don't like religion. I just hate him anyway. I can't believe he tried to run for president against bush, thinking he'd win.

This can be summed up in four words: Pat Robertson is INSANE!! The hate that he spews forth every time he's on the tv or in a magazine or a book or online or wherever else is harcore proof of this. I'm sorry, but no matter how hard you try to rationalize it, the left wing, gays and lesbians, and non-christians ARE NOT ruining the world.
