Near earth object pass

ive been hereing about a near earth pass. like really close(under the comuncation satalites)in 2010 or 2011. is that true iif so what will a close pass like that do to the sea level and the world comuncation? and why is no one talking? i think some thing like that is a big deal?

I believe you are referring to 99942 Apophis, while it will come close enough to pass under our geosynchronous satelites, this will not happen until 2029, and even than
it poses no serious threat to the planet.

There was initially, starting in 2004 a big deal made, because it had been
estimated that it would impact the planet, however later data showed that
it would'nt, there was also worry that it would pass through a gravitational
keyhole, and impact later in 2036, though as it is now, the chances of it
impacting our planet are considerably low.
