SECOND mystery boat found off Australian coast!

www.skynews.com.au

Just days after calling off the search for the crew of a yacht, police have found another unmanned boat in far north Queensland.

According to the Coast Guard, the boat had been in the water for some time and its keys were still in the ignition.

rofl, this just had to happen
Just after they call off the search for the people from the 1st abandoned boat, another one turns up?
This new 6 metre fibreglass boat - the 'Sailfish 2' - was not damaged at all, had a full tank of fuel, both engines were intact and keys were still in the ignition. Scuba and fishing gear was found inside. It was registered in New Caledonia, and papers on board were written in French.

But it was found upside down, and had barnacles on it, prompting police to think that it may have simply broken its moorings some weeks ago.

Well whatever happened, it sure is some coincidence that two abandoned boats were found in the same(ish) area within a week or two of each other. And not everyone believes in coincidences . . .

EDIT: Just thought I'd have you know, there was another case like this a few years back.

www.CNN.com

The riddle of an Indonesian-registered, Taiwan-owned trawler carrying several tons of rotting fish, seven toothbrushes, but no crew is baffling Australian police. At this stage we have not located the crew or discovered any plausible reasons for their absence from the ship," Graham was quoted as saying.
"The simple answer is we may never determine the fate of the crew," he added.

Once again - the boat had a full tank of fuel and was fully stocked up on food. The 'High Aim 6' was a Indonesian-registered Taiwanese-operated fishing trawler, with a crew of 7, as counted by the number of toothbrushes left on board.
They thought it might have been piracy - 'a growing problem in the region'
- but nothing was damaged or stolen. The boat was in perfect working order in all respects.

Canberra is puzzled by a ghost ship that is carrying only rotting fish (subscription requried, takes 1/2 second)

All fairly odd, huh?

Can they not find out who the boat is registered to? Like they would do with a car?
