Poll Shows Majority Of Americans Favor Gun Control

Most Americans are in favor of stricter gun control, but few say it would have done a lot to prevent the shootings last week at Virginia Tech, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.
Two-thirds of the adults surveyed Friday through Sunday said the laws covering the sale of handguns should be stricter and 27 percent said the laws should be kept

I know this is just a poll. I am sure the margin of error is enough for it to swing either way. However as the story states, in the past similar polls have shown similar results. The deciding factor however will be the VA Tech school shooting. That and the Columbine shooting. Both will be fuel to make the laws tighter for the gun control.

I just took the poll at CNN and it was leaning in favor of the rights to gun.

I think that when you have polls right after a tragedy like the VA tech people tend to be negative when it comes to guns.

But when the issue of the constitutional right to bear arms comes most people seems to like the right to guns just the way it is.

I agree after a tragedy people may tend to lean in favor of gun control. However there is many different ways a pole could be worded. For instance just increasing the laws on hand guns is one more people might tolerate. Or charging a tax on every gun you have is another that is already happening from what I have read. Just a poll

Polls are crap. You have one in favor of gun control I have one thats not.

I, being an avid gun enthusiest, will embrace my poll.

Somone in favor of gun control will embrace the other poll.

And none of it matters at all. Whoever it was that decided to market polling was a real genius. Im going to start my own polling group, undercut all the others and make sweet bank off of nothing. Its like selling bottled water. Or colored sand.

All laws on gun control are unconstitutional. And the people in power who can declare that, are all corrupt.

I might tend to agree with you, but I do think probably more then half of the people in the U.S. might not.
I hope there will be a few people in high places that will actually care about the people that voted them there.
